This position plays a vital role in supporting clinical operations by collecting blood and urine specimens for diagnostic testing. This role performs Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)-waived tests to assist clinicians and medical technologists in conducting clinical analyses and evaluations. The Phlebotomist ensures specimen integrity by adhering to aseptic techniques, following established departmental protocols, and observing appropriate isolation procedures. PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for performing various tasks to support the laboratory technical staff in pre-analytical and post analytical activities. Full knowledge of test collection requirements. o Transport samples using centrifuging and refrigeration, as well as other preservation techniques and ensuring that samples are correctly logged during the intake process. o Utilizing navigation apps to find the most optimal route, ensuring that your vehicle has sufficient gas, is always ready for use, and following safe driving policies as set forth by the State. o Updating daily/weekly/monthly mileage records as required EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING: • High School diploma or equivalent OR • If phlebotomy duties are required, completion of a blood collection, Medical Assistant or similar training program preferred. • Nationally certified in blood collection desired EXPERIENCE: • 1 year experience in a health care setting preferred • 2 years phlebotomy experience preferred for phlebotomy duties • Training related to analytical laboratory testing preferred for departmental specific duties SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Undertake basic administrative tasks such as basic computer skills, scanning, filing, answering telephones, and email/faxing. • Technical skills and aptitudes related to the laboratory procedures or processes performed in department or work area assigned. • Ability to work Monday - Friday, hours may vary each day.
