Phlebotomist - Oklahoma City, OK Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquires and Fingerprints. Qualifications Must have valid Laboratory Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician or Phlebotomist certifications to practice in Oklahoma. Experience with specimen collection, packaging, and shipment to referral laboratories with knowledge of maintaining appropriate records must be shown on resume. Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or the American Heart Association (AHA). Three (3) Letter of Reference is required. **Copies of all certification and resume must be forward with your application. Attire The contractor is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms are approved). Duties and Responsibilities Collection of blood and urine samples, preparation and tracking of all laboratory samples. Daily maintenance of laboratory equipment, notify the laboratory manager when the equipment requires professional maintenance repair. Biological specimen preparation and packaging for shipment to contract laboratories. Keep the laboratory manager informed of all information pertaining to the services rendered, i.e., specimens obtained; and reporting any problems arising regarding laboratory services Require direct entries into the inmates medical record. Assist the Physician, Physician Assistant, and/or Nurse with patient flow in a clinic setting by measuring the patient's vital signs and weight and scanning laboratory results in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR). Organize, schedule, and perform laboratory studies, specimen collection and process within the Health Service Unit, to include A&O in-processing, DNA per procedure, vaccine programs and PPD updates. Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the contract or Bureau of Prison Reference Laboratory and document per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures. Ensure that laboratory requests are completed properly, and all reports are returned from the contract laboratory, provider notified, log results in as received, follow up appropriately, and file results in laboratory and medical record/ COPIA. Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Program Statement for Laboratory Services and Unit Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein, ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updated accordingly. Assist the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or his/her designee in the coordination of BOP and Contract Reference Lab contact, CLIA re-certification, maintenance of equipment and notification of needed supplies. Assist the HSA and Clinical Director with writing and implementing policies that deal with the laboratory program. Job Description Phlebotomy Technician Kay County, OK Follow Universal Blood and Body Fluid Precautions at all times. Lift supplies of up to 30 pounds. Inform the Laboratory Supply Petty Officer of material requirements, research and/or evaluate new or improved phlebotomy devices. Use an automated Laboratory Information System for entering patient demographics, tests requested, generating labels, and querying for completed results. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and medical staff. Schedule appointments as necessary. Complete work according to industry and safety protocols; follow detailed oral and written directions, precautions, and procedures. Perform other duties as directed by supervisor(s) and needs of the department such as answering the phones, greeting and processing lab patients. Minimum Qualifications: High school equivalent and completion of NAACLS or two-part Phlebotomy program. A current certification and registration as a Phlebotomy Technician from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (PBT-ASCP) or the American Medical Technologists (RPT-AMT). Must have performed 40 hours of classroom training, 100 hours of clinical training and 10 successful venipuncture (including skin punctures). Minimum of one year of experience as a Phlebotomy Technician after graduation. Staff shall complete VA mandatory training as requested and complete ACLS/BLS training and keep ACLS/BLS certifications current throughout the life of the contract.
