Position Summary: The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing blood collection activities for the purpose of health assessment in the Pathology department at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center; Miller Children's and Women's Hospital. The Phlebotomist also performs all activities, pre-analytic functions, and data management under the direction of a California Licensed Supervisor as defined in Chapter 3 of State of California Business and Professions Code. Provides customer service communication via phone and face to face. Ensures that equipment and safety devices are used appropriately following set guidelines. Performs venipuncture, heel stick and finger stick specimen collection activities from pediatrics, neonatal, and adult population following appropriate procedure and protocol for health assessment.
