Identify the patient by comparing patient's self report of name, last name and date of birth, to the information on the lab requisition order. Fully understand and verifies all provider orders. Label and record all test tubes, log procedures and file paperwork. Maintains knowledge of and consistently adheres to test requirements, including color top tube to use, processing requirements and volume of sample needed. Completes assigned duties efficiently and in a timely manner. Performs tasks for equipment maintenance and decontamination. Prioritize STAT, scheduled and outpatient orders. Package specimens for transport. Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/tube, accurately labels, follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen.
