* Work collaboratively within the Office of Communications to generate new ideas and produce creative concepts that support the University's brand.

BASIC FUNCTION:
As a member of the Communications and Marketing team, function as the University's primary photographer, capturing high-quality images that represent the institution's academic, cultural, and social environment to be used in a variety of print and digital publications supporting communications and marketing initiatives, including recruitment materials, websites, social media, news stories, newsletters and magazines, advertisements, and displays.
The role involves event photography, studio and environmental portrait work, and coordinating on- location shoots in a collaborative and deadline-driven environment. The University Photographer plays an essential part in implementing and maintaining digital asset management systems. Displaying an approachable demeanor when working with subjects across the University as well as a self-directed, can-do spirit are essential attributes for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Branding and Consistency: Ensure that photos align with the institution's brand guidelines, meet marketing and storytelling objectives, and contribute to the overall aesthetic of University collateral materials.
Digital Asset Inventory and Management: Initiate and seek out opportunities to update University stock photography of campus locations, buildings, faculty, staff, and students. Work with communications and marketing colleagues to maintain an accessible image library. Respond to and fulfill requests for images/assets as needed.
Collaborate with Designers, Editors, Content Creators: Work with the marketing and communications team (including creative services, media relations, web communications, and social media) to produce compelling photos that visually represent the spirit, culture, and achievements of our University community.
Contribute Photography for Magazine: Coordinate and produce portraits, editorial, landscape, and scenic photos, and other kinds of photography for print and digital publication. Work with the editor-in-chief of the University of Rhode Island Magazine and the print and digital design team to produce images for the magazine, ensuring a cohesive visual narrative. This position helps shape the visual identity of the University of Rhode Island Magazine.
Event Photography: Support the Offices of the President and University Events capturing images at events, including ceremonies, lectures, and other gatherings.
Photo Editing and Retouching: Edit and retouch photos to meet publication standards, ensuring images are high-quality, visually appealing, and appropriate for print, digital, and social media formats.
