Dr. Levatter is currently CTO for PhotoMedex (now Strata Skin Sciences), a medical device company, and was previously Executive Vice President and Vice President of Engineering for Redlake MASD, both high technology companies in San Diego. Prior to this, he was Vice President of Research and Development for Braun-ThermoScan (a division of Gillette), a medical device company, also in San Diego, California.



Dr. Levatter's professional background encompasses a combination of management, technology and business development. He has worked in both small and large corporate environments, and has substantial experience growing, funding and marketing high technology companies. During his professional career, he also has taken a leadership role in developing high technology products and transitioning them into cost effective, innovative new products.

areas including research, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, quality, and

clinical & regulatory affairs



* Founding, funding and managing two successful high technology corporations



* Managing scientific, software & hardware engineering and design teams for Class II & III medical instrumentation and capital equipment in a GMP environment



* Managing manufacturing operations for laboratory equipment, medical device instrumentation, and commercial electronics



* Designing, developing and transitioning electronic, mechanical, optical,

and biological systems into innovative new products



* Establishing domestic and foreign teaming and OEM relationships with major aerospace, electronics and medical companies

Jeffrey I. Levatter, Ph.D. Executive Profile



Dr. Levatter's management experience includes founding and serving as CEO, COO, president, vice president and chief scientist for several high technology companies. He is currently CTO at Strata Skin Sciences, and was previously the Executive Vice President & Vice President of Engineering for a San Diego based high technology firm. He has extensive knowledge of building and managing creative development teams. In addition, Dr. Levatter is very familiar with program management, financial planning (including budget forecasting and purchasing), and FDA and ISO regulatory compliance requirements.



Dr. Levatter's product development experience includes the creation of hardware (& software) based medical instrumentation, scientific and industrial systems, and consumer electronics. This background encompasses instrument design, catheter engineering, bio-compatible materials, drug/device interactions, photonics, materials science, optics, vision systems, CCD & CMOS sensors and imaging systems, lasers, fiber-optics, digital camera design, electro-mechanical systems, cryogenic systems and components, electronics design, ASIC design, development of clinical studies for medical devices, & FDA design control documentation, CAD, PCB design, and embedded controller and software design. He also has a thorough understanding of machine shop and manufacturing practices, with the ability both to work hands-on, and to supervise development and production teams.



Dr. Levatter received his Bachelor of Arts (with honors) and Doctorate in Engineering Physics from the University of California, and his Masters in Applied Physics from Stanford University. He has developed many successful products for the medical device, laser and electro-optics, and consumer electronics industry. Dr. Levatter has published more than thirty scientific articles, presented numerous lectures, and has been granted more than 20 U.S. and foreign patents.
