The Physical Education Teacher is a highly qualified, state certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. Physical Education Teachers provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students' individual needs. Physical Education Teachers monitor student progress through Stride K12's learning management system. They actively work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance each student's learning toward established goals. PE Teachers typically work from home but must travel occasionally throughout the year to various school functions, such as state testing or as otherwise required by the school.
THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION THAT WILL LIKELY PAY $20-$25/HOUR
This is a part-time hourly position up to 25 hours per week. Ability to work independently is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday is imperative. Instructional hours fall between 9-5 EST (or 8-4) based on the needs of the schools we serve. Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. We anticipate the hourly wage to be $20-25/hour up to 25 hours per week . The hourly wage is not guaranteed, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors. Position Summary and Responsibilities
Working out of their home, the Health and Physical Education Term of Project Teacher will manage subject-specific instructional programs. Compensation will be based on the specific course workload and number of enrolled students. The teacher will be responsible for monitoring progress, evaluating work, running online instructional/tutorial sessions, providing academic guidance, and being the subject-matter expert for a caseload of middle/high school students. The teacher must be able to complete work related responsibilities through a combination of regular office hours during the school day in conjunctions with hours scheduled outside the normal school day. Through use of the telephone, Internet and various curriculum tools, they will consult regularly with learning coaches and students to ensure that each child successfully completes his/her instructional program.
The Health and Physical Education Term of Project Teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
Communicate with parents/learning coaches, students and other teachers via the phone, WebMail, asynchronous discussions and synchronous “conferencing”;
Instruct students, monitor student work, provide feedback, and suggest instructional approaches and strategies;
Monitor completion of assignments in the given subject area;
Score assessments and projects in the given subject area;
Communicate with Advisory teachers and school counselors; report student issues and coordinate communication schedules;
Conduct online tutorial and instructional sessions for students (utilizing online conferencing software);
Develop a very detailed knowledge of the curriculum for which responsible (subject expert);
Provide struggling students (and parents) with alternate strategies and additional assistance;
Complete all required training sessions throughout the year; and
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Highly qualified and certified to teach in Health and Physical Education in Minnesota (appropriate to grade level and subject responsibilities)

Job Purpose The Fitness Instructor ensures that students receive physical education activities following the Performance Academies Mission to instill lifelong learning and physical well-being through the sports of soccer and tennis. It is the responsibility of the Fitness Instructor to collaborate with team members, which include but are not limited to: the parent, classroom teacher(s), principal, related service providers, and Fitness Director to ensure the individual needs of students are met.
Duties and Responsibilities

Student Learning
Always supervise students; never leave a child unattended, never allow a child to run errands, use the restroom, go to the office, leave for intervention or speech services unattended or unsupervised by an adult
Maintain all required certifications, licensures, background checks, etc. current
Maintain high levels of classroom management at all times, including during transitions to and from PE, etc.
Deliver high quality instruction at all times
Follow “coaching” model of PE instruction; focuses on tennis, soccer, martial arts or specifically related subjects

Maintains and prepares facilities and equipment for practice and competition in accordance with athletics department, board policy and district procedures.
