Job Summary:
Treatment of patients primarily in the LTACH with coverage in the IRH as needed, based on business need under the direction of the Occupational Therapist; daily documentation/charging in the EMR; education of patients, families and staff as appropriate; communication of patient progress in clinical conference; communication with other team members on a daily basis; preparing equipment orders; contacting vendors for equipment; communication with physicians and other professionals; weekend/holiday services rotation; participation in Performance Improvement initiatives.50/50 coverage in hospital
Takes an active role in servicing patients with immediate needs. Documents productivity in a timely manner.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Follows the established treatment plan and provides treatment according to funding source and regulatory guidelines to meet functional goals; accurately documents, including need for skilled services, patient progression, patient response, and then bills accordingly; provides education as appropriate
Serves as CI/mentor for interns as needed: Provides direct supervision/mentorship, taking direct responsibility for the patient & care provided. Provides daily feedback to interns regarding treatment interventions & directs the learning experience. Critiques/co-signs documentation daily to be sure it meets regulatory requirements & funding source specifications. Completes weekly, midterm and final evaluations for interns & communicates w/ their school regarding performance.
Participates in hospital and discipline specific skills check: Demonstrates competency through completion of didactic training and testing as well as demonstration of skills specific to their position and skill set as well as skills obtained at Wellstar Roosevelt.
