Assistphysicaltherapists in providing physical therapy treatments and procedures.
May assist in developing treatment plans, documenting treatment progress, and modifying specific treatments per patient status and within the scope of treatment plans established by a physicaltherapist.
Essential Functions:
Administers active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and heat, light, sound, water, and electrical modality treatments such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, and hot and cold packs to ensure positive patient outcomes.
Instructs, motivates, and assists patients in learning and improving functional activities.
Observes patients during treatments and compiles and evaluates data on patient responses to treatments and progress, and reports findings to the physicaltherapist.
Fits patients with orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs and then routinely and, as needed, adjusts and trains patients in their use and care.
Confers with members of physical therapy staff and other health team members, individually and in conferences, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.

Job Qualifications:
Education
Graduation from an accredited physical therapy assistant program.
Licensure:
Current Texas State License in Physical Therapy Assistant, current Texas Driver's License.
Experience:
Two years experience in acute care or rehabilitation setting, home health preferred.
Skills:
Therapy skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice. Good interpersonal skills.
Transportation:
Reliable transportation and valid and current auto liability insurance.
Environmental and Working Conditions:
Works in a patient's home in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases; ability to work a flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.
Physical and Mental Efforts:
Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs and to meet patient/family individualized psycho-social needs.
