The Physical Therapy Assistant consults with the PhysicalTherapist concerning physical therapy needs of the patient and treats the patients according to the written treatment program developed by the PhysicalTherapist. The PTA also assists with record keeping and reporting.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities/Accountabilities):
Follows established treatment plan developed by the PhysicalTherapist for each patient.
Suggest ideas for progression through rehabilitative process.
Communicates with PT regarding patient needs and patient progress.
Identifies and communicates unusual or abnormal assessments to PT/Director as needed.
Provides quality care in compliance with the APTA Code of Ethics and departmental guidelines.
Utilizes opportunities during the delivery of treatment to teach and educate patient and family members.
Demonstrates the ability to work with a variety of patients of all ages as well as the mentally and physically challenged.
Able to organize the priority of patient need and perform tasks within allotted time.
Treats customers with respect, courtesy, and patience. Explains procedures and treatments and follows up on complaints.
Completes required documentation in a timely manner.
Observes confidentiality by not discussing patient issues except on a need-to-know basis.

Graduate from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program
Current PTA license
Knowledgeable on universal precautions
Knowledgeable of age-specific requirements for patient populations
BLS preferred

Pay ranges from $21.351/ hour to $34.161/ hour (rate of pay is based on years of applicable experience)
