Responsibilities:
Applying your clinical reasoning to assess movement dysfunction and identify underlying causes through patient history and physical examination

Our PhysicalTherapists examine and treat patients with physical impairments through the use of physical modalities. The goal is to assist persons who are physically challenged to improve mobility and function, independent self-care, other skills necessary for functioning in daily living. We have Specialty Programs that include Balance and Fall Prevention, Spine Safety, Total Hip and Knee Replacement Program, and our Total Shoulder Replacement Program. The PhysicalTherapist provides services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. The PT also examines patient's medical history, evaluates their physical abilities, determines their potential to respond to therapy, and develops treatment plans. Provides direct patient care, evaluates functional needs and outcomes, and establishes plan of care. Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care.
Evaluates effectiveness of treatment and modifies as necessary.
Assesses educational and cultural needs of the patient, family, caregiver, or significant other and communicates accordingly to achieve maximum benefit of care.
Documents evaluations, treatment goals, and plans in accordance with Hospital requirements and established guidelines. Regularly updates documentation and maintains prescriptions and signatures.
Prepares plans for discharge.
Coordinates, delegates, and supervises responsibilities assigned to support staff.
Coordinates with interdisciplinary team on patient needs, treatment modifications, and progress.
Completes and files patient documentation in a timely manner.
Attends and participates in the weekly team conference.
May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.

PhysicalTherapists work directly with PTAs and PT Techs on private treatment teams to ensure optimal patient care.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
1. Assesses patient condition, establishes goals, treatments and care plan in conjunction with the
physician, patient/family.
2. Ensures that appropriate treatment is performed in interdisciplinary fashion, consulting with physicians
about impact of physical therapy factors on the patient's health status.
3. Documents findings, treatments and other patient information for the medial record.
4. Educates patient/family on appropriate care and use of various therapies/exercises.
5. Serves as information/education resource for patients, families and staff.
6. Supervises Physical Therapy Assistants and Physical Therapy Technicians.
7. Serves as a resource to Physical Therapy staff.
8. Provides on-going education to the Physical Therapy staff.
9. Assists the director with patient care issues.
10. Maintains patient confidentiality.

General Description
The Staff PhysicalTherapist is responsible for providing high quality PT services in an outpatient clinic setting, as well as inpatient/swing bed unit within the hospital (typical balance 90/10). May be required to perform school-based therapy or treat assisted/independent living residents. Close-knit team of Therapists work with each other, PTAs, administrative individuals, and hospital staff to ensure comprehensive, holistic, and caring treatment.
Essential Job Duties
Performs evaluations, re-evaluations, treatments, and discharges that meet the current standards of the discipline of physical therapy and of the hospital.
Documents progress notes, physician communication, discharge notes for all patients seen.
Provides timely documentation per hospital and departmental requirements.
Prepares and submits patient charges accurately to provide appropriate billing information.
Communicates effectively with co-workers, patients, and family members.
Completes assigned hospital education and competencies on time and without reminders.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
Provides a minimum of one in-service to the public and or peers per year.
Participates in one community event per year per availability of events.
Informs physician of physical therapy and services by attending physician meetings, office visits and informal discussions.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Communicates effectively with doctors, nursing, other hospital staff to provide high quality care to patients, residents.
Upholds the vision/mission statement of the hospital.
Conducts self in a professional manner with courtesy, respect, for others.
Act as a clinical preceptor for affiliating Physical Therapy and PhysicalTherapist Assistant student programs.
Maintains professional license.
Other Non-Essential Job Duties
Maintains the self‑respect, personal dignity, and physical safety of each patient/resident.
