KBR is seeking a Metrology Intern to work with engineering staff supporting a variety of projects.

**Internship dates: TBA**

**Responsibilities/Duties** :

+ Calibrates and certifies Physical, Mechanical, and Electro-Mechanical Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology utilizing certified laboratory standards and manufacturer, commercial or military specifications/calibration procedures.

+ Calibrates and troubleshoots fault isolation, adjustment and repairs using Test Measure Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) certified laboratory standards.

+ Troubleshoots/repairs Physical and mechanical and Electro-Mechanical TMDE and integrated electronic systems utilizing theories of operation, block diagrams, schematics, logic trees and software diagnostics.

+ Performs statistical analysis of data, data systems, equipment performance, procedure effectiveness, and laboratory production metrics.

+ Perform complex research studies and research measurement projects utilizing knowledge of physics and physical sciences measurement knowledge

+ Areas of knowledge to include Pressure, Temperature, Humidity, Force, Torque, Vibration, Flow and/or Mass/Weights and Measures

+ Accurately records/reports maintenance actions using applicable maintenance data collection.

+ Perform other duties as assigned

**Qualifications** :

Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.

+ High school diploma with 4+ years relevant experience, OR Undergraduate degree or applicable training and 3 years experience. equivalent experience in lieu of degree

+ U.S. Citizenship Status required due to client requirement.

+ Areas of knowledge to include Pressure, Temperature, Humidity, Force, Torque, Vibration, Flow and/or Mass/Weights and Measures

+ Formal military PMEL, TMDE or calibration school training a plus.

+ IndySoft, Fluke Met/Team, Fluke Met/Track and Met/Cal experience a plus.

+ Previous customer service experience is a plus

+ Proficient using Microsoft technology, including Excel

Work Schedule: Estimated at 20-30 hours/week with flexibility to accommodate intern's education

Under direct supervision of the designated preceptor (charge therapist), to perform work involving the delivery of direct patient care in the areas of Respiratory Therapy.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)

+ Administers oxygen therapy as ordered.

+ Administers physician prescribed respiratory treatments to patients within their individual registration to practice, including intermittent positive pressure breathing (IPPB), nebulizers, metered dose inhalers, and chest physiotherapy.

+ Operates and maintains non-invasive monitoring systems as ordered, including pulse oximeters, transcutaneous monitors, and oxygen analyzers.

+ Performs deep endotracheal and nasotracheal suction and tracheostomy care per procedure.

+ Performs patient assessments for response to therapy.

+ Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (Minimum Requirements)

A Respiratory Therapy Extern is defined as a person who is a full-time student in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, preferably affiliated with HFHS, and works at the hospital in addition to their clinical studies. Under supervision of Registered Respiratory Therapists, the extern performs basic tasks, which have been learned in class and practiced in the School Laboratory setting. These tasks have also been practiced with demonstrated competency during clinical rotations at area hospitals. The extern follows all HFH Departmental Policies and Procedures and performs tasks only after successful passing of theoretical and practical competencies, administered by HFH Departmental leadership. As the externs progress in knowledge and experience, their job scope widens, as they demonstrate more and more skills and proficiencies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Full-time student in good standing in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program, preferably affiliated with HFHS.

Extending their expected graduation date, due to failing grades or dropping out of a Respiratory Therapy program is a condition for automatic termination as a Respiratory Therapy Extern.
