Providers work autonomously to the top of their licensure and are responsible for: • Present and discussing their evaluations with Attending Surgeons to determine proper treatment plans • Ordering diagnostic tests and interpreting results • Performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including but not limited to: wound care/debridement; tube/drain insertion, care or removal; suturing/suture removal; insertion or removal of traction pins; splint, brace or cast application or removal; medication administration including IV push drugs and the injection of steroid and anesthetic agents; insertion or removal of central venous lines; insertion of nasogastric tubes; bladder catheterization; phlebotomy and IV insertion; and electrocardiograms • Conducting daily patient rounds and attending weekly grand surgical rounds • Participating in the discharge planning process • Educating and counseling patients and families • Orienting medical students, physician assistant and surgical residents to the environment, patient care practices, and hospital policies and procedures • Participating in the quality improvement/quality assurance process Are you ready to bring your talent to this team and join us in driving medicine forward? Job Summary The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. Essential Functions Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting. Performs complete histories and physical examinations. Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
