The department of Orthopedics is seeking a Physician Assistant for the Spine Team. The Advance Practice Provider (APP) will work collaboratively with other APPs, residents, and faculty surgeons within the department. The APP will be expected to provide outstanding care to spine team patients, working in an outpatient clinic setting. Patients span the life spectrum so the APP will see infants through geriatric patients. This role requires someone who is organized, motivated, and very efficient. No weekends and no call with this position. This is primarily a clinic position. Most APPs have eight to nine half day clinics per week with one to two half days for administrative work. This is a five day per week position.
Position Responsibilities:
Provide excellent care to patients, perform/order medical diagnostic, therapeutic procedures, and prescribe, dispense or deliver medications under a collaborative practice agreement. Consult/collaborate with other care team members. Use judgment to apply/adopt information within total clinical picture to address health issues. Influence others to adopt best practices.
Complete patient medical records, reports, and forms to record treatment for treatment record and billing purposes. Improve quality of care by performing chart reviews and participating on performance improvement committees.
Provide health education to patients and medical education to health professions students and residents. Participate in ongoing research and professional development of self and other staff.
Establish and maintain procedures and systems to assure staff compliance with policies and standards of care. Serve on committees to enhance patient care and operations. Assure team provides effective collaboration/communications. May provide feedback and coaching to other team members to assure quality of specialized care.
Assist with identification and implementation of process improvement projects and service line advancements in order to improve patient outcomes and decrease complications.

No weekends or call is expected for this role.
Education Requirements:
Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or certification by the NCCPA. A Master's degree is highly desired.
Experience Requirements:
3 years of patient care experience gained through education, job experience, or rotations is required.
Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of orthopedic patient care is required.
Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:
