Position Summary:
The PhysicianAssistant will provide comprehensive perioperative and clinical care for cardiothoracic surgery patients within a multidisciplinary setting. Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert perioperative care for cardiothoracic surgery patients with a patient-first philosophy.
Assist in advanced cardiac procedures, including endoscopic vein harvesting using the Maquet-Getinge system, and serve as first assist during surgeries.
Manage postoperative ICU care, including patient rounding, assessment, and monitoring within the CVICU, floor, and outpatient settings.
Participate in two full-day clinics weekly, evaluating and managing patient care needs.
Rotate through operating room coverage Monday through Friday, supporting surgical procedures and emergent cases.
Collaborate effectively with surgeons, intensivists, physicians, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic tests to inform clinical decisions.
Develop individualized care plans, implement interventions, and follow up on patient progress.
Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with regulatory policies.
Perform bedside procedures pertinent to cardiothoracic care.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters and clinical activities.
Exercise clinical judgment independently within supervision guidelines, contributing to quality patient outcomes.
Engage in ongoing Continuing Medical Education (CME) to maintain current clinical competencies.
Adapt to a fast-paced, evolving clinical environment, demonstrating flexibility, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and professionalism.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in cardiac or cardiovascular surgery and ICU patient management.
NCCPA certification (PA-C) required.
BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
DEA license required.
Ability to operate independently with sound clinical judgment.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.

Assists in the development and presentation of education and instructional programs.

Bachelors' degree in related health field from an accredited college or university
