We are searching for a Physician Assistant who is motivated to work in an exciting pediatric setting! In this position, you will practice in an advanced role to provide developmentally appropriate and age-appropriate health maintenance for well children, episodic care for ill children, and comprehensive care for children with chronic conditions. The PA works under a delineation of clinical privileges and will work collaboratively with other members of the health care team. Practice under established guidelines and clinical protocols, the PA assumes independent and interdependent responsibilities in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of treatment and procedures. Qualifications:

At Houston Methodist, the Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) functions as an advanced practice practitioner maintaining and promoting the health of the patient requiring care, practicing medicine under the supervision of a licensed physician. This position will provide diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical and preventative care, under the supervision of a physician. The surgical PA position will assist the physician in the global management of patient care in all peri-operative settings, their primary role is to assist licensed physicians in patient surgery. This end-to-end involvement enables surgical PAs to provide unparalleled continuity of patient care. This position will work in both inpatient and outpatient settings and can perform independently under the license of a physician or as part of a treatment team. The Surgical PA position will take call as required or as outlined by their supervising physician, manager or lead. This position should be in the OR a minimum of 30%. In addition, the Surgical PA position exams, diagnoses and decides treatment for patients, including analyzing and interpreting x-rays and lab results, writes prescriptions, takes patients' histories and orders various forms of therapy. The Physician Assistant, Specialty is responsible for promoting and maintaining health by providing medical services under the supervision of a Cardiologist and/or other physician.
The Physician Assistant, Specialty incumbent must demonstrate the ability to function both independently and in collaboration with other health care professionals. He/She consults with the clinical leadership team to ensure compliance with guidelines. This position may require participation in risk and quality management programs, clinical meetings and other meetings.
The Physician Assistant, Specialty incumbent adheres to strict departmental goals/objectives, standards of performance, regulatory compliance, quality patient care compliance, and policies and procedures. Functions independently as a certified nurse practitioner in collaboration and consultation with a licensed patient care team physician. Practices in accordance with a written or electronic collaborative practice agreement.
**ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Contributes to physician's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives.
+ Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.

Responsibilities

Qualifications
The PA-RTA shall have sufficient experience and skills to be able to adequately perform the tasks identified in the work statement.
The contact HCP is required to have and maintain a current, valid, unrestricted license to legally Practice in one of the 50 states in the United States, or the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. Territory.
License and or Certification requirements. BAMC requires a PA to possess certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). PA must have and maintain a valid, unrestricted license to practice medicine in one of the 50 states in the U.S., the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands, IAW DHA-PM 602513, Vol 4. What You Will Do: The Nurse Practitioner works under the supervision of the Medical Director for all clinical care, takes direction from the physician as it relates to specific patient care concerns, and is responsible for the initiation and maintenance of patient care. Coordinate new patient consultation, medical, and psychological referrals, as indicated, with appropriate provider and serve as a liaison for third-party providers/agencies.
Initiate new egg donor and gestational carrier consultations; complete full work up IAW FDA regulations.

Prescribe medications within the APP's scope of practice, and dosage information based on consultation with physician.

Complete intrauterine inseminations (IUI), pap smears, wet preps, vaginal cultures, endometrial biopsy, laminaria, and balloon removal.
Care Center specific: Perform HSG, saline sonogram, transvaginal ultrasound, and punch biopsy.
OB procedures:
Assess risks associated with age, conditions, and/or multiple gestation.
Provide nursing education regarding pregnancy and first trimester pregnancy care.
Manage abnormal pregnancy in collaboration with the physician team.
CCRM Embryo Donation Program:
Meet with prospective embryo donors and discuss testing requirements/timeline.
Review embryo testing results, assess embryo quality, approve/disapprove embryo donation, and record in EMR.
Match embryo qualities with recipient needs and notify patient of match made.
Review consent form with patient and ensure completion.
Create medication calendar/schedule for recipient patient.
What You Bring:
Nursing degree from an accredited school of Nursing required.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) License required.

Essential Job Responsibilities
• Conduct thorough medical evaluations and provide appropriate treatment for patients, ensuring high standards of care.
• Oversee the work of certified medical staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
• Participate in minor surgical procedures, including but not limited to joint injections, laceration suture repair, wound debridement, and eye foreign body removal.

• Available for after-hours calls and visits to address urgent medical needs.

Requirements

Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Surgical Physician Assistant to support both our operating room and clinic teams. Key Responsibilities:
In the Operating Room:
Assist the orthopedic spine surgeon during procedures, including pre-operative preparation and post-operative care.
Perform first assist duties during surgeries, including tissue handling, suturing, and instrumentation.
Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are prepared, sterile, and functioning properly.
Provide intraoperative care as needed, including monitoring vital signs and patient condition.
In the Clinic:

Assist with diagnostic procedures and imaging reviews (X-rays, MRIs, etc.).
Provide patient education on treatment plans, surgical options, and post-operative care.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Completed Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas
Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Preferred: Previous experience in orthopedic spine surgery, with both clinic and operating room experience.
BLS and ACLS certification required (or willingness to obtain).
