The NICU has approximately 320 admissions and 1900 births annually, with an average daily census (ADC) of 10
NNPs/PAs work in our 16-suite, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and will also help with covering the newborn nursery
NNPs/PAs provide 20 hours per day of shift coverage, in collaboration with the neonatologists who provides in-house daytime coverage and back-up call from home at night.

This Opportunity:Monarch is searching for a PMHNP or Psychiatric PhysicianAssistant for a new comprehensive behavioral health center opening in June 2026 in Concord, NC, providing services for our Behavioral Health Urgent Care. Full Time - Mon-Wed from 7pm-7am Nights. A First Level Commitment Examiner Certification is a plus but not required. The position requires all onsite until the program is up and running efficiently, then a hybrid model of both onsite and remote may be considered. A PhysicianAssistant must have at least one year of post-graduate clinical mental healthcare experience, or a CAQ in Psychiatry.
The Stephen M. Morris Behavioral Health Center is a 60,000+ sf, 72 patient 24-hour Tier 4 facility, with a Pharmacy, and a Learning Kitchen for the PRTF. The new facility will consist of a 24 bed PRTF for Children/Adolescents, a 16 bed FBC for Children/Adolescents, and a Behavioral Health Urgent Care offering services for both Children/Adolescents and Adults.
The primary responsibilities of the PMHNP or Psychiatric PhysicianAssistant are to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe medications for people we support, which may include, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics diagnosed with mental disorders under direction of a qualified health care provider to enhance the quality of life through services that enable them to achieve their personal dreams and goals.What You'll Do:
• Prescribe medications and treatments under the supervision of a physician or according to established policies and protocols.
• Report information about an individual's medical condition to supervising physicians to assist with the established diagnosis and appropriate course of treatment.
• Assess individuals for mental health disorders and make an appropriate DSM diagnosis (es). Ensure that services are delivered in a medically appropriate manner and care provided is in compliance with NC Medical Board guidelines.
• Review past treatments, evaluations, and other relevant information in order to develop an appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan.
• Request diagnostic lab work when appropriate.
• Maintain all documentation and records which are necessary in the daily work of psychiatry in a timely manner, which includes the use of electronic health record system (EHR). Documentation should be completed within 24 hours of the delivered service.
• Provide education to individuals to aid in understanding their diagnoses and recommend appropriate treatment. Involve/educate family members and other supports in treatment when appropriate. Encourage individuals to participate in mental health therapy when appropriate.
• Collaborate, coordinate and consult with other providers such as counselors, psychologists, social workers and medical staff of other local providers, including but not limited to state hospitals, local hospitals, other community agencies, primary healthcare providers, CCNC, public Health Departments, Federally Qualified Health Clinics in order to discuss treatment plans, progress in services and where appropriate, the medical aspects of the person being supported and the implications for their physical healthcare needs.
• Participate in staffing of complex or high-risk individuals with other program staff.
• Attend and actively participate in meetings and training as required. Maintain certification in all agency, state and federal training requirements.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with all agency policies and procedures, as well as state and federal statutes and regulations related to specific program areas.
• Follow service definition guidelines for services being provided.
• Complete all other relevant responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
• Driving and travel may be required.
