Essential Responsibilities:
DATA COLLECTION
- Obtains a pertinent medical history, performs an appropriate physical examination, and reviews relevant laboratory or radiologic (or other) studies to assess the patients medical, physical, psychological, and relevant socio-economic status.
- Will have full access to patient medical records and other information pertinent to those patients under his/her care.
ASSESSMENT
- Formulates an accurate and appropriate diagnosis based on elicited data, and includes differential diagnoses as appropriate.
TREATMENT PLANNING
- Develops and implements treatment plans that are aligned with the practice preferences of the Collaborating/SupervisingPhysician(s) including orders for medication and/or other treatment modalities, the need for additional testing, consultation to other providers, and follow-up provisions.
- Provides care with attention to safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
- Plans are appropriately prioritized and adapted to the patient and circumstance.
PROCEDURAL CONSIDERATIONS
- Performs procedures within the limits of their expertise and in accordance with the State Regulations and Organizational Policies.
PATIENT EDUCATION AND COUNSELING
- Educates and counsels patients and their families regarding their treatment plan, including disease prevention and health promotion.
- Promotes the availability of culturally-sensitive health and resource information that is evidence-based, patient centered, and enables informed choice.
DOCUMENTATION
- Documents all examination data, diagnostic impressions, appropriate codes, and other patient care activities in the medical record, including the name(s) of any consulted physicians or other providers.

- Observes the principles and techniques of Universal Precautions.
- Conducts telephonic and virtual encounters as appropriate.
- Manages assigned in-basket tasks.

Compensation

Schedule: This is a full-time position with varying hours (totaling 40 hours per week). Employee must be available Monday - Friday 7:45A - 6:00P and one to two Saturdays per month, working from 8:00A - 1:00P

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Check daily schedule and assist in organizing patient flow.
Assist Physician with various surgical procedures.
Perform rounds on patients that are post-surgical or have been admitted to the hospital for consultation.
Cover weekend and evening calls as needed.

Ensure that all necessary documents and imaging studies are taken from the office to the OR for surgery.

Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned which may include respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with physician quickly.

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care: Provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing management of patients seeking MAT for opioid or alcohol use disorder.
Medication Management: Prescribe and monitor MAT medications (e.g., oral and injectable buprenorphine and naltrexone), ensuring appropriate dosing, adherence, and monitoring for potential side effects.
Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct thorough medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations to assess patient needs and treatment progress.
Collaborative Care: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, counselors, peer workers, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
Patient Education: Educate patients on the nature of substance use disorder and the MAT process, and provide counseling on lifestyle changes, coping mechanisms, and return-to-use prevention.
