Our division provides coverage for inpatient pediatric services at Covenant Children's Hospital, University Medical Center Children's Hospital, and Trustpoint rehabilitation hospital. Our division acts as the primary admitting team for many of our pediatric subspecialists and participates in co-management with many of the surgical specialists at each of our hospital sites. We are currently growing a hospitalist-run sedation service at Covenant Children's for children undoing procedures or sedated imaging.
Our division works closely with the TTUHSC medical school and pediatric residency program providing oversight on inpatient rotations, education in hospital medicine, and mentorship. We have a well-established, accredited PHM fellowship program with one fellow per year. We are committed to training students, residents, and fellows to be successful in their future careers and place a strong focus on education and evidence-based practices.
Faculty within the division serve in a variety of roles across the medical school and hospital systems including the freestanding children's hospital CEO, leaders of the organized medical staff, assistant dean for undergraduate medical education, director of the fourth-year school of medicine curriculum, pediatrics clerkship director, and leaders in quality improvement and health information technology at our clinical sites.

Our hospital medicine division is comprised of 11 pediatric hospital medicine physicians. Our division provides coverage for inpatient pediatric services at Covenant Children's Hospital, University Medical Center Children's Hospital, and Trustpoint rehabilitation hospital. Our division acts as the primary admitting team for many of our pediatric subspecialists and participates in co-management with many of the surgical specialists at each of our hospital sites. We are currently growing a hospitalist-run sedation service at Covenant Children's for children undoing procedures or sedated imaging.
Our division works closely with the TTUHSC medical school and pediatric residency program providing oversight on inpatient rotations, education in hospital medicine, and mentorship. We have a well-established, accredited PHM fellowship program with one fellow per year. We are committed to training students, residents, and fellows to be successful in their future careers and place a strong focus on education and evidence-based practices.
Faculty within the division serve in a variety of roles across the medical school and hospital systems including the freestanding children's hospital CEO, leaders of the organized medical staff, assistant dean for undergraduate medical education, director of the fourth-year school of medicine curriculum, pediatrics clerkship director, and leaders in quality improvement and health information technology at our clinical sites.

Major/Essential Functions
* Reports data, identifies and reports alterations in patient responses to assist in the identification of problems and formulation of goals/ outcomes and patient-centered plans of care in collaboration with patients, their families, and the interdisciplinary health care team.
* Assists in determining the physical and mental health status, needs, and preferences of culturally, ethnically, and socially diverse patients and their families.
* Communicates patient data using EMR to support decision-making to improve patient care.
* Implements teaching plans for patients and their families with health learning needs.
* Participates in the identification of patient needs for referral to resources and facilitates continuity of care.
* Assists with or performs exams and procedures and documents intervention in EMR.
* Takes and records accurate vital signs and
* Communicates with patients via telephone per clinic protocols.
* Prepares and operates necessary equipment and instruments for examinations, treatments and procedures.
* Sterilizes and disinfects medical equipment.
* Stocks and Inspects inventory of supplies in examination and treatment rooms.
* Completes Annual Nursing Core Competency Training and Skills Fair.
* Appropriately triage incoming symptom based calls measurements.

Required Qualifications
Completion of a Board of Nursing accredited program of vocational nursing. Current Vocational Nursing license in the state of Texas or the attainment of a temporary permit from the Board of Nursing to practice vocational nursing pending full licensure in the state of Texas. At least two years of LVN experience in a hospital, clinic or community-based environment.
