This provider will advise Dean of Student Services and support staff as to operational needs and ensure quality, competent customer-focused care including the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses and injuries. What will I do in this position?
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and referral for students? physical and psychosocial concerns, in accordance with state regulations, university protocols, and professional standards of care.
Deliver primary care services during clinic hours, including infirmary care and emergency response support in coordination with campus safety personnel.
Develop, implement, and maintain clinical policies, standing orders, and protocols in collaboration with the Medical Director to ensure safe, compliant, and evidence-based care delivery.
Lead clinical operations for the health services unit, including medication inventory, health records oversight, laboratory testing coordination, and administration of immunizations, screenings, and therapeutic procedures.
Serve as the primary clinical liaison for external medical and virtual care partners (e.g., TimelyCare), ensuring integration of services and continuity of care for students.
Collaborate with campus departments and serve as a clinical consultant in multidisciplinary case management to support student health, retention, and academic success.
Monitor campus health trends and lead efforts in prevention, health education, and student outreach that promote wellness, self-care, and health literacy.
Provide pre-travel health consultations, including vaccinations and preventive care guidance aligned with CDC recommendations, in support of student international travel.

Qualifications: $125174.40-$180814.40 Annual Community Information: *Currently only open to Fairview Hospitalist APPs* Fairview is seeking an experienced Hospitalist Physician Assistant to perform triage work in the System Operations Center (SOC) at Fairview Midway Campus in St. Paul, MN. The SOC Advanced Practice Provider Triage Hospitalist plays a critical role in facilitating timely and appropriate placement of patients across M Health Fairview's nine metro hospitals?including our quaternary academic medical center, children's hospital, tertiary hospitals, and community hospitals. This role ensures optimal utilization of system resources by coordinating with patient placement nurses, specialists, and admitting providers to triage and assign patients to maximize efficient resource utilization.
Practice Details:
FTE: flexible from 0.23-0.91
FTE structured to complement current clinical Hospitalist role
Rotating 8-week block integrated with clinical site responsibilities/schedule
Shift Lengths: Evening (1 PM?11 PM), and Weekend (9 AM?9 PM every fourth weekend, aligned with a weekday stretch), and eventual Daytime (8 AM?6 PM) as we expand and fully staff the service
Serve as the clinical coordinator for triaging interfacility transfers and direct admissions across the Fairview system
Assess clinical appropriateness of transfer requests and determine optimal destination based on acuity, capacity, and site capabilities
Collaborate with SOC Patient Placement Specialists (PPS), hospital medicine and ICU triage physicians, and site based ANS to ensure seamless patient flow
Collaborate as needed with specialists regarding patient admissions
Document triage decisions, clinical rationale, and communication in EPIC and SOC tracking tools
Escalate placement barriers to appropriate individuals as needed per escalation pathways
Facilitate centralized acceptance for both internal and external medicine transfers, ensuring alignment with Fairview?s placement governance model
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and participate in data review to enhance transfer efficiency and patient outcomes
Requirements
Current licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) in the state of Minnesota
Minimum 3 years of experience as a hospitalist APP within the Fairview system
Strong clinical judgment and ability to synthesize complex medical information quickly
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Familiarity with EPIC and system-level patient placement workflows
Preferred:
Experience in triage, transfer coordination, or critical care
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and hospital sites
Flexibility to work variable shifts, including evenings and weekends, based on system needs
