Pre-Surgical Testing Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Needed for Elliot Hospital- Full Time, No Call This position requires complete review of medical and surgical history, assessment for risk factors that could potentially lead to anesthesia complications, physical assessment, interpretation of laboratory values, cardiac testing, pulmonary testing and diagnostic imaging. If clinical evaluation reveals that the patient requires further medical optimization to ensure the best surgical outcome and avoid any potential anesthesia complications, then the provider will carry out those interventions and re-evaluate for their effectiveness. The APP is required to adhere to anesthesia pre-operative guidelines along with the additional pre-operative workup request by individual surgeons. This role requires supporting nursing staff who identify possible pre-surgical concerns and supporting staff from medical offices which involve chart reviews. When necessary, to clear patients for surgery, the APP will refer to and arrange specialty consultation and follow up on the resulting pre-operative recommendations. Job Summary Job Summary: The Brigham and Women's Outpatient Clinic Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant (PA) is a member of the Cardiac Surgery care team within the MGB Heart & Vascular Institute. The PA is a licensed provider who has acquired a broad range of knowledge and skills through the successful completion of a PA program. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of pre- and postoperative outpatient cardiac surgery patients, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care, and ongoing evaluation. Physician Assistant, Orthopedics Please note this role will possibly include coverage of several subspecialities of orthopedics.
