The PhysicianAssistant, Specialty is responsible for promoting and maintaining health by providing medical services under the supervision of a Cardiologist and/or other physician.
The PhysicianAssistant, Specialty incumbent must demonstrate the ability to function both independently and in collaboration with other health care professionals. He/She consults with the clinical leadership team to ensure compliance with guidelines. This position may require participation in risk and quality management programs, clinical meetings and other meetings.
The PhysicianAssistant, Specialty incumbent adheres to strict departmental goals/objectives, standards of performance, regulatory compliance, quality patient care compliance, and policies and procedures. Functions independently as a certified nurse practitioner in collaboration and consultation with a licensed patient care team physician. Practices in accordance with a written or electronic collaborative practice agreement.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contributes to physician's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives.
Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, echocardiograms and laboratory studies; interpreting test results.
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.
Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance.
Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Cardiology duties include identifying and managing cardiology patients, ordering appropriate cardiology diagnostic tests, and administering cardiology specific therapeutic interventions as needed
Other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion.

Basic computer skills and some knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, database, and presentation software
Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally and nationwide up to 75% of the time
Spoken and written fluency in English, bilingual a plus
This job requires use and exercise of independent judgment
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:
Master's Degree required
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required
Current DEA number from the DEA for schedule II-V controlled substances may be required based on State of practice
A minimum of 3 years experience working in Cardiology as a PhysicianAssistant in an out-patient clinical setting
Successful completion of program recognized by the accreditation Review Commission on Education of the PhysicianAssistant, appropriate state licensure, and certification
PAY RANGE:
$107,903 - $154,147 Salary

We are seeking a licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) or PhysicianAssistant (PA) to provide occupational health services on an intermittent basis, covering for staff absences in our Occupational Health Clinic. This role focuses on supporting the wellness, safety, and medical needs of city employees, with duties spanning from injury triage to physical exams and regulatory testing.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide primary, urgent, and occupational health care to adult employees, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care
· Conduct health evaluations, post-offer/pre-placement physical exams, and CDL medical certifications
· Perform in-person and telephone triage of injured employees, determining appropriate care and facilitating referrals as needed
· Collaborate closely with the City's Physical Therapy, Workers' Compensation team, and other relevant internal departments
· Conduct OSHA-compliant evaluations and testing, including:
o Hearing conservation assessments (CAOHC standards)
o Pulmonary clearance and respirator fit testing
o Support for asbestos monitoring protocols
· Prescribe medications, order diagnostic tests, and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations
· Assist in developing or reviewing occupational health policies and procedures alongside safety engineers, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene personnel
Minimum Qualifications:
· Graduate of an accredited Nursing or PhysicianAssistant program
· Active and unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or PhysicianAssistant in the State of Colorado
· Board Certification from AANPCB, ANCC, or NCCPA (as applicable)
· State and Federal DEA certification to prescribe Schedule II-V controlled substances
· Registered with the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME)
· Current BLS certification
· Relevant and progressively responsible experience in urgent care, emergency care, or occupational health, specifically treating adult patients
