Responsibilities
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant works both independently and in collaboration with surgical consultants, fellows/residents, nursing and other staff to provide high quality outpatient care in a busy Breast and Melanoma surgical practice. The APP is responsible for performing independent preoperative assessment, coordination of patient care, and patient management for breast and melanoma surgical patients in both the preoperative and postoperative outpatient setting. Time is spent both in independent clinic and in clinic with the surgeons in a collaborative setting. Provision of care includes, but is not limited to: comprehensive physical assessment, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and educating and counseling patients and their families.
The APP will work alongside another Breast and Melanoma surgery APP and multiple surgical APPs providing care in the outpatient clinic. The APP will also work very closely with our colleagues in Plastic Surgery, Medical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology. This position is 100% outpatient clinic practice with no call, holidays or weekends.
Qualifications
Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification, or eligible to be certified, as an ANP, ACNP, or FNP.
Or, graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by the NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice. The NP/PA must be eligible for DEA registration.
Must be eligible for DEA registration and billing privileges. Strong written and oral communication skills are required and must have demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.

Current practice has two employed full time OB/GYN's. One additional OB/GYN works call only, covering one weekend a month and 2-4 weeknights a month. One Certified Nurse Midwife. One PA-C Women's Health. RN's and CMA's support the practice. Average of 12 - 20 patients per day, depending on the mix of procedural work. OR cases start at 7:30am and end when cases are completed. There are first assistants provided in the OR for all specialties 24/7 (RNFA, PA). EMR used is Cerner/Oracle.
The OB/GYN is responsible for the care and management of primarily female patients seen in the Women's Health Clinic for women's health gynecologic and/or perinatal care. The OB/GYN physician provides OB/GYN services customarily performed by OB/GYN physicians in a hospital-based clinic practice.

Hourly Wage: $76.86
This position is an integral member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team providing preventive, acute, and chronic healthcare across the continuum of age in a variety of healthcare settings.
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses - APRNs:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Masters or Doctorate degree
Licensed as a registered nurse and as an APRN by the Minnesota Board of Nursing
Certified by a national credentialing board
Certified by specialty
Must complete continuing education and professional development beyond formal education as outlined by certifying body
Physician Assistant - PAs:
Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program
Licensed by Minnesota Board of Medicine
Certified through National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
Certification by specialty is also available
Must complete continuing education and professional development beyond formal education as outlined by certifying body
Both APC positions will also have:
Basic Life Support (Advanced Life Support as required by your area of practice)
DEA registration
Pass background check
Register with the Minnesota Prescriptive Monitoring Program (PMP).

Provides appropriate patient education
Emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention
Performs procedures as indicated specific to your area of practice
Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests and procedures; communicates results to patient(s) in a timely manner
Discusses assessments, prognosis, and treatment options with patient(s) to develop acceptable, affordable, and culturally sensitive treatment plans
Prescribes medications, treatment modalities, and durable medical equipment as indicated by health condition
Consults with and refers to other healthcare clinicians when indicated
Committee participation and meeting attendance
Participates in both professional and lay healthcare forums, conducts research, and applies findings to clinical practice as indicated
Other duties as assigned
