TeamHealth has a new day shift hospitalist opening at St. David's Georgetown Hospital in Austin, Texas. This is an established program between TeamHealth and HCA staffed with internal medicine (IM) hospitalists and nocturnists that are all local to Austin. Our physicians work a traditional 7-on, 7-off schedule. St. David's Georgetown has 114 beds but only 50 beds are handled by the hospitalist program. We are currently staffing this with 3-day time providers (7a-7p) with 1 nocturnist physician (7p-7a). This is a closed ICU setting, averaging 20-22 total patient encounters per day shift clinician and a maximum of 10 admissions at night. The physician diagnoses and treats diseases and injuries of human internal organ systems and delivers preventive and therapeutic treatment of primary care needs, including chronic disease management, of patients through routine physical examination testing and non-invasive treatment. This includes strong communication with fellow team members to ensure the expectations of Patient Aligned Care Team metrics are met. Actively diagnoses and treats our veterans. Fulfill compliance requirements of the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Joint Commission (JC), Environment of Care (EOC) oversight, lab compliance and other related items. Responsibilities * Perform comprehensive physical assessment of patients using observation, inspection, auscultation, palpation and percussion. * Order or execute various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition. * Diagnose and treat diseases, disorders and injuries based on patient's medical history and results of physical assessment and refer patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment. * Prescribe medications and therapies for treatment and preventive care. * Instruct patients and their families regarding procedures performed, home care, and follow-up visits. * Direct professional and ancillary health care staff during treatment of patients. * Respond to inquiries from staff and patients regarding preventive health and treatments. * Compile patient medical data including health history, treatment plans, results of physical examination, etc. and record in electronic medical record. * Report required information including deaths and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities. * Plan, promote, demonstrate, recommend and coordinate high standards of medical practice. * Perform other duties as assigned.
