Job Description:
We are seeking dedicated, patient-focused physicians licensed in at least to join our team. Whether your background is in primary care, internal medicine, addiction medicine, emergency medicine, or urgent care, this role provides an opportunity to practice modern, high-quality medicine without the constraints of a traditional practice setting. While most of our services are fully virtual, in-person hybrid opportunities may be available.
Responsibilities:
Provide exceptional virtual care, including patient assessments, medical history reviews, and appropriate medical treatment.
Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care, building therapeutic doctor-patient relationships.
Order and interpret lab tests as needed to make informed, high-quality treatment decisions.
Prescribe medications and provide expert guidance on their proper usage (QuickMD does not prescribe controlled substances, except for buprenorphine for opioid addiction treatment).
Collaborate with physicians and nurse practitioners, experienced nurses, and a dedicated support staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Maintain appropriate medical documentation to support continuity of care.
Stay up to date with medical advancements, telehealth innovation, and best practices.
Requirements:
Active medical license in at least three U.S. states, but preferably five, plus willingness to obtain additional state licenses (assistance provided and costs covered).
Critical to be licensed in at least five states and/or three or emore of the following states: CA, FL, NC, PA, TX.
Experience treating patients in telehealth or high-volume in-person settings.
Ability to schedule and work at least 15 core hours weekly (8AM-6PM locally), over four days each week, scheduling at least one week in advance.
Strong communication skills and a commitment to medical excellence.
Comfort using telemedicine platforms and EMRs (training provided).
Passion for expanding access to care and making a meaningful impact.
At least one DEA certification and applicable CSL (if required).

SUMMARY
The Hospice Physician is responsible for providing overall medical leadership and clinical expertise to the organization for the purpose of ensuring quality end of life care to patients. RESPONSIBLE TO: Executive Director and Hospice Medical Director
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Clinical Leadership and Care under the direction of the Hospice Medical Director. This position is supervised by the Executive Director.
Certifies that patients are medically eligible for hospice services, using available diagnostic and prognostic indicators, related diagnoses if any, current subjective and objective medical findings, current medication and treatment orders, and information about the medical management of any of the patients medical conditions unrelated to the terminal illness.
Recertifies patients as appropriate, using information from face-to-face evaluations where required, for continuation of the Medicare Hospice Benefit at the appropriate level of care.
Attends IDT meetings.
Collaborates with the patients attending physician and the hospice IDT to review/update the patients individual plan of care and ensure that the medical needs of the patient are being met.
Provides consultation, support, and education to the hospice IDT, attending physicians, and other colleagues regarding medical eligibility, symptom management, and any other issues related to the care of hospice patients.
Ensures that physician support is available to hospice RNs 24/7, either directly or through collaboration with other Hospice of Redmond providers and/or qualified colleagues.
Documents care provided in the patients clinical record, including evidence of end-stage-disease progression. Reviews patients medications and other treatments to ensure they are medically necessary and cost-effective.
Provides clinical leadership in the development and review of clinical protocols and processes to quality care. Maintains current knowledge of the latest research and trends in hospice care and pain/symptom management.
Administrative/Operations
Assures overall continuity of hospice medical services.
Assures that the patient receives appropriate measures to control uncomfortable symptoms. Assures physician representation/participation in the development of patients hospice plan of care.
Actively participates in the organization-wide Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Plan as directed.
Participates in the development and updating of patient care policies and emergency procedures. Participates in resolution of interpersonal conflict and issues of clinical and ethical concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Licensed physician (MD or DO) in the State of Oregon
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license
Valid drivers license and automobile liability coverage and several years of progressive medical leadership experience
Must live within driving distance from our office, for in-person visits and meetings
Preferred:
5 years of clinical experience in geriatrics and/or hospice and palliative medicine
3 years of experience providing primary care for hospice patients
Experience in medical home visits
Experience with medical ethics and quality improvement

Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) working in VA Medical Centers (VAMCs) or Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), will adhere to infection control, biohazard handling, and PPE protocols to ensure a safe environment. The SCMG Hospitalist Program providers address the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of hospitalized patients who have been referred from the community primary care doctors, emergency room doctors, or other physicians in the hospital.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Hospitalist Physician (day/swing shift) provides medical care as the attending of record for adult inpatients (minimum age 18) presenting with primary internal medicine pathology and provides their services twenty-four (24) hours daily all days of the year. The Hospitalist Physician responds to admission requests and assumes care at such time that patients are transferred out of the Emergency Department or directly admitted from an outside facility as specified by each SCHS hospital's medical staff bylaws.
Work schedule: Shifts are generally ten to eleven (10-11) hours in duration and Physician will work a minimum of 166 annual shifts. Option of 7 day rotation schedule or option of flex scheduling.
Call expectation: Back-up call during high census times may be requested.
Work location: The Physician will be rotating between Bend and Redmond Hospital for coverage needs. Other outreach locations may be added as patient and business needs dictate.

Clinical Expectations:
Provide 24-hour coverage of all Medicine patients on the Bend campus, both in an admitting role as well as a consultative role, in accordance with existing Co-Management Agreements.
Provide 24-hour coverage of all Medicine and Critical Care patients at the Redmond campus, both in an admitting as well as consultative role, in accordance with existing Co-Management Agreements.
When requested by the primary service, serve as a Consultant for all inpatient psychiatric patients in PES or Sageview.
If medically complex, serve as a Consultant for patients in Inpatient Rehabilitation.
Share in equitable distribution of work between all hospitalist physicians on shift.
Maintain credentialing and privileges to perform critical care procedures, and ability to rotate through the St. Charles-Redmond hospital on an equitable basis with others in the position.
Maintain familiarity with the SCMG organization structure, communication systems, billing process, and completing billing and coding documentation within time assigned by SCMG administration.
Obtain medical knowledge and current skills through regular continuing medical education (CME) activity.
Abide by all medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations.
Share information both when requested and when anticipating someone might have a need.
Maintain punctual presence for assigned work days, in compliance with the SCHS policy on attendance
Keep medical knowledge and skills current through regular CME activity. To attest to having obtained 60 hours of Category 1 continuing medical education (CME) relevant to the practitioner's current medical practice over the prior two-year period.
Participation in Rapid Response Supervision may be requested from time to time.
Administrative Expectations:
Document all patient care within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and complete all necessary tasks in compliance with health system policies and regulatory agencies to ensure timely and accurate billing.
Be familiar with the SCHS organization structure.
Participate in SCMG meetings and assist in policy formation for SCMG and Physician's practice.
Keep medical knowledge and skills current through regular CME activity. Must attest to having adequate (CME) to meet maintenance of board certification and compliance with MSO rules and continuing privileges without restriction.

EDUCATION
Required:
Graduation from an accredited medical school.

Required:
Oregon license as MD/DO

Working Conditions
This position is located inside Deer Ridge Institution and works in close contact with adults in custody in the institution setting. May be exposed to chemicals, radiation, communicable disease, or other hazards inherent in a health care facility and correctional setting. Daily contact with patients who are severely mentally ill, frequently threatening, and occasionally physically assaultive. Frequently deals with urgent demands from patients, families, and professionals in the hospital and in the community. Daily work environment includes interview rooms, ward examining rooms, seclusion rooms, conference rooms, and office settings.

The Role

What You'll Do:
Conduct initial visits both synchronously and asynchronously based on state telemedicine regulations

Follow best practices and company-specific policies for treatment and documentation
Initiate patient visits for Principal Care Navigation (PIN), Transitional Care Management (TCM), Advance Care Planning (ACP), and other palliative-related services.

Must be able to obtain government clearance.
Workplace Safety and Environment:
Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) working in VA Medical Centers (VAMCs) or Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), will adhere to infection control, biohazard handling, and PPE protocols to ensure a safe environment. Physicians must follow HIPAA regulations, OSHA standards, and VA workplace safety policies, including radiation safety, ergonomic best practices, and emergency response procedures.
Physicians will manage high patient volumes, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and provide care to aging veterans, combat-injured patients, and those with PTSD or mental health challenges. Workplace violence prevention training and security measures are in place for safety. All incidents, exposures, or patient safety concerns must be reported per VA compliance and occupational health requirements.
This position requires passing an extensive background check.
Qualifications:
Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
Active and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Minimum two (2) years of experience as a practicing physician in a primary care setting preferred.
Familiarity with VA policies, procedures, and electronic health records (EHR/CPRS) is a plus.
Ability to pass a background check and credentialing process required by the VA.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent telephone etiquette and precise documentation.
Proficiency in Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced level), online calendars, and cloud-based systems.
Detail-oriented with accurate data entry skills.
Customer-focused with a team-oriented work ethic.
Ability to multi-task efficiently and accurately while maintaining quality standards.
Must provide proof of required immunizations.
