Job Role Summary
The Palliative Care program helps coordinate complex care for patients with serious, life-threatening illnesses through the efforts of its interdisciplinary team comprised of two physicians, two advance practice providers, two nurses, three social workers and spiritual adviser. The team seeks to provide patient and family centered care to improve the quality of life of patients navigating serious illness by managing complex symptom needs, coordinating care and exploring goals of care across a variety of settings.
The physician must be BC/BE in Palliative and Hospice medicine and will join a mature team to provide both inpatient and outpatient care for patients and families. The inpatient consult service provides care to a wide range of patients including those in the Burn unit, medical and surgical ICUs as well as medical/surgical wards. Additionally, the physician will provide care on an outpatient basis through multiple co-management clinics with Oncology as well as primary Palliative Care clinics. After hours and weekend call coverage will be shared amongst all providers.
The Palliative Care physician will supervise and train a wide range of learners including medical students, residents, fellows and other interdisciplinary learners in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Additional opportunities include participation in research, scholarly activities, and the Eskenazi Ethics Committee.
The Palliative Care physician must be self-directed, flexible and committed to the team concept; demonstrate effective teamwork, initiative and willingness to learn; be open to new experiences; and accepts and respects diversity without judgment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Perform in a manner to create and sustain a positive work culture with cross-department collaboration and in alignment with Eskenazi Health and Eskenazi Medical Group initiatives.
Provide assessment, diagnostic determination, ongoing clinical management, necessary referral for consultation, care planning, therapeutic orders, transfer authorization, risk assessment, and determination as appropriate for discharge or transfer of patients, both directly and via supervision of trainees.
Collaboration, communication and coordination with all physicians and healthcare personnel caring for hospitalized patients.
Actively engage in multi-disciplinary care planning with physicians, advance practice providers, nurses, social workers, spiritual advisor
Perform bedside rounds on all patients (either with team members or independently) in pursuit of interventions that improve the quality of life of patients and families. The physician will provide attending notes on all assigned patients.
Perform review of resident notes for format, relevance, and accuracy with correction as needed, including completeness of dates, times, and legible signatures, ensuring timely completion of all professional records and documentation in compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory, licensure and accreditation requirements.
Complete all medical record documentation and billing submissions within one business day of service.
Provide prompt, effective, and efficient cross-cover of learners to allow them to attend scheduled educational sessions as well as role-modeling of handoffs to attending physicians coming on-service.
Provide direct contact and consultation with patient's family members, friends, advocates, and relevant others to ensure effective communication of patient status and care plans and to encourage and support a patient-centered and family-friendly style within the hospital environment.
Provide rotational coverage through on-call weekend rotation for inpatient and new consults.

Korzen Health is seeking a full-time Traveling Physician to join our team. This position will provide coverage to Healogics Wound Care Centers in the OH/IN/MI region.
For over 25 years, Healogics has been treating patients with chronic wounds from over 600 hospital-based wound care centers across the country. Currently, Healogics treats over 300,000 wound care patients annually and has healed nearly 4 million wounds. Healogics is the worlds leading expert in wound healing.
This position is based in our outpatient wound care clinics and is exclusively dedicated to procedural wound care. Our center operating hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no nights, on-call duties, or weekend work. All patients are seen by appointment only; walk-ins are not accepted. Our clinics are integrated within existing hospital facilities, and the physician will be employed by Healogics.
This is a procedure-oriented environment primarily serving geriatric patients. The successful candidate must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in their core specialty and possess a strong procedural background. Recent experience with procedures such as suturing, incision and drainage (I&D), or other types of procedures is required, and procedural case logs will be requested as part of the credentialing process. Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy training are available. A full clinical team will be in place from the start date.
Scope of Practice Highlights
Full Team support includes Case Manager, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Nurses, Office Manager, and Front/Back End Support
We offer advanced wound-care treatments to promote healing, including: Cellulitis therapy, compression therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, infection management and prevention, wound cleaning, and wound dressing.
Teams will average approximately 15 to 20 patient encounters per day, with a majority receiving wound care and less than 5% receiving Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
Standard work hours are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, totaling 40 hours per week. There are no night shifts, on-call responsibilities, or weekend hours.
There is opportunity for growth into leadership positions
Each assignment will be 3-6 months long.
Regional travel is required.

Clinical Planning
Contribute to the development of the overall strategy and clinical plan for development of clinical compounds, focusing on studies required for product decision or regulatory submission.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$198,000 - $336,600
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
