About the Position The primary function of the RAIL DEPOT HANDLER position may include, but is not limited to: 1) working and preforming daily maintenance on material transfer equipment including bins, chutes and conveyors, 2) loading of stockpiled product into railcars and customer trucks and trailers, 3)offloading of product imported by rail cars into onsite stockpiles. The Hydrovac Swamper will work as part of a crew responsible for going into residential and commercial areas working on underground utilities and working with their crew to complete tasks for the day. Roles and Responsibilities: Responsible for the successful completion of hydro excavation projects including utility line exposure, debris removal, slot trenching, and digging Supervise activities of Hydrovac Swamper in order to ensure employee skill development Set up and inspect grounding and/or bonding procedures for Hydrovac operation Complete all required paperwork properly and within set timelines Perform pre and post-trip inspections, as well as routine maintenance Performing Required Daily Vacuum Excavation Tasks: Potholing Existing Underground Utilities for HDD Work Pole Holes, Anchors, and Trench Work for Company Divisions Exposing Existing Underground Utilities for New Placement and Maintenance Work Success Factors: Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions. Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instruction Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-worker Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports Knowledge of basic underground utilities Skills in operating heavy equipment and machines proficiently and safely Ability to use time and equipment efficiently to complete projects on time Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment Mechanical aptitude Mapping and Print Reading Ability to work in confined spaces Minimum of 1 year of related experience or training Mechanical ability; and knowledge of equipment and heavy vehicle operation, maintenance, and repair Willingness and ability to learn additional skills Experience and Education: 1-2 years of Manual Laboring Experience preferred Standard Driver License Required An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver's License is required within two weeks of employment.
