Performs security services and dispatcher duties when assigned. * Participates in activities not directly related to Security operations as approved by Security Management. * These may include transport and release of bodies from the morgue; patient escort; elevator recall checks; monthly fire extinguisher, panic alarm, and intercom checks; and special event setups. Interviews and investigates individuals involved in suspicious or illegal activities. * Detains unauthorized individuals in compliance with state and federal law Officers are required to use force when appropriate to protect patients, staff and visitors at an Emory Healthcare facility. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Two (2) consecutive years of armed security, military, or law enforcement experience within the last 7 years. * Must have Possess(ed) a: * POST certification;OR * Have been registered through a military (DD214 or current Military ID); OR * All active, reserve, retired or honorable discharged military personnel will meet the licensing/certification requirement * Federal, state, or local licensing firearms certification (Department of Homeland Security, NASA, NRA, GBI, or Secretary of State) AND * Must successfully complete the Basic Security Officer and Firearms course mandated by the Secretary of State within 3 months post-hire. * Must be able to successfully complete training to carry non-lethal weapons such as a Taser (CED) and/or a baton within 3 months post-hire. * Must possess a valid driver's license. While a clean driving record is not required, applicants should have no recent history of serious traffic violations. * Must pass a psychological exam. * Must obtain IAHSS Basic certification within 12 months. * Obtain a BLS Certification within 12 months. * Complete FEMA IS 100, 200, 700 & 800 within six (6) months.
