Maintain driver log (Manual or PeopleNet) according to DOT regulations, documenting delivery receipt, product temperatures and exceptions. Qualifications you'll bring as a Trainee Component Driver Teammate: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Possess a Class A CDL. Be at least 21 years of age. Meet eligibility requirements in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy. Ability and willingness to select/load/unload and/or deliver ALL products that may be ordered by McLane customers. Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading. Perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities of product. Communicate with customers, management, and other teammates. Safely drive a tractor-trailer, use a 2-wheeled dolly, ramp, and on board PeopleNet devices. This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. What You'll Do Responsibilities: All phases of telecommunication construction include but are not limited to: Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal and placement of various types, sizes and weight of construction materials and equipment. Locate for Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable. Ensure safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities. Operate Horizontal Directional Drill Assist in potholing and remediation. Assist with setting hand holes and completing tie-ins. Ability to Read and Comprehend utility locates. Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks and grounding the machine. Ability to properly formulate and mix drilling mud for the site conditions. Ability to properly clean and maintain the equipment, check fluid levels, and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required reports, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment. Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required reports (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, crew time logs etc.) Follows specifications for the job and company policies.
