JOB SUMMARY
Ensures all operations involving Company aircraft are in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, Air Evac EMS Operations Manual, and all state and municipal regulations.
Operates the aircraft in a safe and efficient manner, with emphasis on compliance with the Rotorcraft Flight Manual
Monitors forecast changes and current weather situations
Conducts preflight of the aircraft prior to starting shift and/or accepting transports or flights. Preflight will be conducted utilizing the appropriate rotorcraft flight manual. Discrepancies noted during the pre-flight will be noted in the engineering log with a notification to maintenance of the discrepancy and what corrective action is being taken
Reports to his/her shift rested and prepared for duty and stays current of weather and forecast changes

Tasks and Responsibilities
Ensures the Safe Operation of Flight:
* Ensures crewing and trip assignments are compliant with company and regulatory requirements.
* Completes flight planning, performance and weight and balance tasks for each assignment, as required.
* Utilizes Threats, Plans and Considerations (TPC) briefing methodology to lead required briefings and mitigate operational risks.
* Complies with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and coordinates with company personnel as required. Acts as the Grounds Security and In-Flight Security Coordinator as defined by company policy.
* Completes all aircraft pre-flight tasks, including the maintenance status of the aircraft, to ensure the aircraft is mission capable. Records all aircraft discrepancies in accordance with company SOPs.
* Ensures all aircraft ground servicing items (e.g., fueling, oil, oxygen) are monitored and accomplished in accordance with SOPs.
* Completes passenger briefings in accordance with company policy and regulation. Delivers the highest level of customer service and meet any special needs of passengers (e.g., physically challenged).
* Utilizes Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) to communicate with crew and support personnel clearly and in a timely manner during normal, abnormal, and emergency operations.
Delivers an Exceptional Service Experience:
* Provides quality service to owners and passengers while identifying opportunities to enhance the EJM service experience. Regularly investigates and resolves service deviations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
* Operates Air methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner.
* Completes pre-flight before every flight verifying the aircraft is in an airworthy condition by sign off of Daily Flight Log. Pilots will perform a complete walk around of the aircraft prior to entering the cockpit for flight and upon completion of each flight.
* Final authority with regard to operations of aircraft and for the safety of passengers, cargo and equipment.
* Must be thoroughly familiar with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft utilized at operational area and also ensures that the medical flight team is familiar and comfortable with the medical interior and systems.
* Responsible for completion of required documentation.
* Able to conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards
* Participates regularly in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees and community outreach
* Performs other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

Instrument Flight rules (IFR) Program:
* 2500 total flight hours with a minimum of 2000 hours in category
* 1000 hours PIC in category
* 500 hours of cross-country flight time, 100 hours of night flight time
* 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument time at least 50 hours which were in flight in an aircraft including 20 hours in actual instrument conditions in category
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
* Commercial & Instrument Rating (for category and class of aircraft)
* ATP rating in category meets this requirement
* First OR Second Class FAA Medical certificate required.

Duties & Responsibilities
Flight Crew Oversight and Training
Directs all initial, recurrent, and upgrade training activities for flight crew members in accordance with company policies and FAA requirements.
Coordinates operational policies and training matters with relevant departments including safety, maintenance, sales, flight control, and training to ensure alignment and compliance.
Ensures crew standardization through regular evaluation, feedback, and corrective action as needed.
Documentation and Compliance

Aircraft Manuals and Technical Updates

Disseminates relevant revisions and procedural changes to affected flight crew members.

Pilot-in-Command Currency
