Operate lab scale chemical processing equipment as well as the Pilot Plant equipment such as reactors, pumps, valves, and instruments. Monitor operating parameters in order to produce quality products for R&D purposes. Manually measure quantities of chemical additives and raw materials with precision; mix components together. Charge chemicals to reactors and other process equipment via manual addition, or pumping in from drums or totes. Assist in maneuvering materials in totes, drums, and other containers. Assist with maintenance on equipment as well as installation of new equipment. Participate in familiarization and scale-up equipment for new chemical processes; contribute to the R&D understanding of new processes and technologies. Log process data to ensure good record keeping and to allow troubleshooting of process issues. Collect and log samples; submit for analytical testing to generate data in support of R&D projects. Safely and responsibly handle hazardous chemicals during processing and maintenance activities, using appropriate PPE. Maintain a tidy and organized workspace; help manage chemical and equipment inventory. Support commissioning of new equipment and development of new R&D processes, as applicable.
