JOB SUMMARY
Ensures all operations involving Company aircraft are in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, Air Evac EMS Operations Manual, and all state and municipal regulations.
Operates the aircraft in a safe and efficient manner, with emphasis on compliance with the Rotorcraft Flight Manual
Monitors forecast changes and current weather situations
Conducts preflight of the aircraft prior to starting shift and/or accepting transports or flights. Preflight will be conducted utilizing the appropriate rotorcraft flight manual. Discrepancies noted during the pre-flight will be noted in the engineering log with a notification to maintenance of the discrepancy and what corrective action is being taken
Reports to his/her shift rested and prepared for duty and stays current of weather and forecast changes

General

Duties and Responsibilities
Monitors pilot conformance to Company manuals and safe procedures. Responsible for the quality of Airman Duties / Flight deck Procedures and Appropriate Airmen Checks and Qualifications processes.
Implements and coordinates a comprehensive safety program, including a Crew Resource Management Program, within Eastern Air Express.
Evaluates and assesses Flight Crewmember problems and takes steps to alleviate such problems within the framework of the Company policies and guidelines.
Coordinates with the DO, Crew Services, flight crew representatives, and other persons as may be necessary to ensure well-rested and alert crews.
Works with People Services, DO, and others to recruit Flight Crewmembers adequate to meet the Company's requirements while maintaining the highest possible standards of selection.
Monitors the qualifications and currency of all pilots and ensures that each crewmember who has been awarded a flight assignment will remain proficient as to each airplane, crewmember position, type of operation and qualified in new equipment, facilities, procedures, and techniques, including modifications to airplanes.
Manages the work required by the Appropriate Airmen Checks and Qualifications process. [14 CFR 121.415(g)].
Monitors the qualifications and currency of Check Airmen and is responsible for the quality of the training of Check Airmen and Flight Crewmembers.
Manages the training of Check Airmen, Instructors, and Flight Crewmembers to ensure that the training is effective and instills respect for compliance and safety among all personnel.
Develops, publishes, and utilizes the policies and procedures necessary to ensure crewmembers' work activities are managed fairly, effectively, and productively.
Has the responsibility to establish and modify the policies, procedures, instructions, and information associated with Pilot Operating Limitations/Recent Experience, Airman Duties/ Flight deck Procedures, Appropriate Airmen Checks and Qualifications, Pilot Operating Limitations, Training of Flight Crewmembers, (including the Advanced Simulator Program), Check Airmen and Instructors.
In conjunction with Crew Services, manages the proper construction of periodic/bid efficient work schedules for company crewmembers.

JOB SUMMARY

Pilots are responsible for the overall safety of the crew, boat, tow, and cargo during their watch. It is their responsibility to safely navigate the boat and tow while assuring that the remainder of the crew performs the daily functions for which the crew is responsible. Pilots must make certain that the boat, tow, and crew are operated in strict compliance with any and all company policies. He or she shall monitor the crew to the extent necessary to be reasonably certain that everyone aboard the vessel is knowledgeable of and in compliance with the drug and alcohol, pollution, safety, and other company policies.
· Ensure that work completed during your watch is done in accordance with Company safety policies and practices.
· Navigate the vessel safely at all times.
· Ensure all crew members on vessel receive instruction on how to do jobs properly and monitor performance.
· Carry out all duties assigned under the Vessel Security Plan as the designated vessel security officer.
· Ensure that each crew member knows the cargo of each barge in tow and has an understanding of any hazards associated with said cargoes. CFR 35.05-15b.
· Complete required log entries.
· Maintain radio watch as required.
· Enforce all rules and regulations that's applicable.
· Comply with all established vessel management policies and procedures.
· Maintain the vessel budget and help maximize cost efficiency as directed.
· Provide instructions and information to crew members.
Requirements
Qualifications include:
• Experience
• Successfully pass pre-employment screening including but not limited to drug and alcohol testing.
• Able to pass a TSA background check
• Must meet USCG physical examination requirements.
• Must be able to work on call for 12 hour shifts.
• Must have experience pushing barges .
• Must have experience running on the Mississippi River
Pilots work as the leader of a team and must follow safe work practices to minimize the risk of danger to themselves, other crew members. Hours of work can vary greatly depending on the type of vessel and the season, with longer shifts generally required during peak season. Typical work shifts include, 12 hour shifts which may fall on some nights, weekends, and holidays.
Pilots must be able to read well enough to understand Coast Guard Notices to Mariners, Rules of the Road, Federal Regulations, Company Directives, Corps of Engineer Publications, and River Charts. They must be able to write well enough to accurately record all events in the vessel log and to communicate as required in the course of their job.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for all aspects of the flight and may delegate various tasks to the Second-in-Command (SIC) but retains responsibility.
Obtain and review all-weather and flight planning data pertaining to the flight.
Determine the airplane is properly loaded and within the center of gravity and gross weight limitations.
Ability to use Electronic Flight Bag and digital planning software.
Ascertain the airplane is in airworthy condition by performing a physical inspection of the airplane and referring to the aircraft Status Sheet for compliance with the required inspections.
Maintain and monitor flight-time and duty-time to ensure compliance and proper qualifications specified by CFR § 135 and Silverhawk Aviation Operations Manual.
