Overview
Joby Aviation's Flight Research team is looking for a Test Pilot to operate research and development crewed and UAS platforms, with the primary focus of the Cessna Caravan program. Drawing on experience crewed and UAS the role will fulfill pilot command duties during developmental and operational flight testing. Joining a small, fast moving team this position will support the full spectrum of test pilot duties as well as supporting engineering development activities.

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $91,500 - $151,900/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled FPV Pilot with advanced acro mode flight experience for visual line-of-sight operations (no goggles). This position is fully on-site at our Bay Point, California test facility. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Operate small and mid-size multi-rotor and fixed-wing UAS platforms in acro mode within visual line of sight (VLOS) environments.
Conduct test flights, calibration routines, and performance evaluations under engineering supervision.
Collaborate closely with systems engineers to provide high-quality, data-driven feedback on flight performance, controls tuning, and system reliability.
Maintain detailed logs of flight hours, aircraft condition, and observed anomalies.
Support safety and compliance processes in accordance with FAA Part 107 and internal operating procedures.
Participate in system validation efforts involving PX4, ArduPilot, Auterion, and Herelink control systems.
Contribute to iterative design reviews, prototype evaluations, and test readiness reviews.

100+ hours of logged FPV flight time.
1+ year of consistent acro mode flight experience under visual line of sight (no goggles).

Actual compensation within the pay range listed below will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. Base salary is localized according to employee work location.

Responsibilities
Conducting flight operations in accordance with FAA, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), and other applicable directives, regulations, and instructions.
Maintaining performance standards in accordance with directives, training plans and Flight Crew Branch policies to include: Knowledge of safety precautions, Knowledge of airfield operations.
Demonstrating Emergency Bold Face procedures from memory, and Knowledge of aircraft systems, limitations and ATC regulations / procedures.
Participating in i3 and NASA-directed Continuation Training, meetings, and other forums mandated by the on-site management team.
Performing any and all on-site tasks necessary at operating locations for a safe, secure, and professional operation.

Candidate must also maintain proficiency, currency, and annual requirements in accordance with NPR 7900.3C, NPD 7900.4D, AFPD 8700.1 and AFOP 7900.3-006 as applicable.

Qualifications
Required Skills:

Responsible to ensure aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy to transport medical crew and patient to receiving hospital within an assigned operational area. Responsible for compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), General Operations Manual guidelines (GOM), and thorough knowledge of Air Methods policies and procedures.

Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner.
Completes pre-flight before every flight verifying the aircraft is in an airworthy condition by sign off of Daily Flight Log. Pilots will perform a complete walk around of the aircraft prior to entering the cockpit for flight and upon completion of each flight.
Final authority with regard to operations of aircraft and for the safety of passengers, cargo and equipment.
Must be thoroughly familiar with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft utilized at operational area and also ensures that the medical flight team is familiar and comfortable with the medical interior and systems.
Responsible for completion of required documentation.
Able to conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards.
Participates regularly in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees and community outreach.
