The Activities Coordinator will be responsible for the overall recreational therapy component of the program at 28 Rockwell St, following the models of Safe Haven. This position provides 24 hours weekly coverage as the Activities Coordinator and 16 hours as Residential Counselor at 414 Harrison Ave. The Activities Coordinator will create and maintain a respectful atmosphere that empowers very chronic, mentally ill participants to reach their highest level of functioning. The goal of the work will be to enhance housing stability and psychosocial rehabilitation. Due to emergency or unforeseen program needs, staff may be temporarily or permanently reassigned to another Safe Haven program at any given time.

Job Description
Streetwork Project is the oldest street outreach program for homeless and street-involved youth in New York City. The program has grown from its beginnings in 1984 as a storefront project to encompass both outreach and comprehensive harm reduction services. The core service is long-term, one-on-one counseling, which is offered in a non-judgmental and holistic manner utilizing a harm reduction approach that focuses on building trust, fostering self-esteem, exploring options and choices, and empowering youth to change their high-risk behaviors.
As part of our continuum of services we operate an emergency housing program for homeless youth in NYC, Streetwork Overnight. The Overnight is a 24 bed facility for youth ages 16-20. It is open from 7 pm to 10 am 7 days a week. Casual Youth Advocates work overnight hours to support the youth while they are in our crisis shelter.
As part of our continuum of services, we also provide overnight outreach in teams of two seven nights a week (7 pm to 3 am), throughout the five boroughs of New York City. Casual Youth Advocates work overnight hours to meet the most disenfranchised youth while they are in crisis.
Casual Youth Advocates work part-time and on-call, filling in for full-time youth advocate absences at the Overnight and Outreach program. These individuals provide comprehensive services to adolescents and young adults impacted by homelessness and involved in street activities (gangs, violence, drug use/sale and survival sex). Services provided by casual youth advocates are the same as full-time youth advocates and include assessment, case planning, case facilitation and management, counseling, referrals, outreach, crisis transportation, daily living services (food, shower, respite), and groups. These Youth Advocates coordinate with Safe Horizon supporting programs and local agencies to provide short- and long-term care necessary to meet the wide range of needs related to homeless adolescents.

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:
The Occupancy Specialist will work with the 11-7 Shift Supervisor and ES Data Manager to oversee all aspects of the bed assignment and nightly reconciliation system, including meeting directly with guests and entering daily bed assignments. Summary: Primary responsibilities include processing Residential Assistance for Families in Transition (RAFT) applications for all individuals and families seeking assistance. The Assessment Specialist is responsible for carrying ongoing caseload of clients applying for emergency financial assistance programs. Primary Responsibilities:
Process Residential Assistance for Families in Transition (RAFT) applications using the salesforce system HHH.
Manage a case load of 15-30 applications per week.
Review all applications carefully for required documents and information as required by Program Administrative Guide.
Review all applications for submitted payment information and ensuring that submitted documents align with state and/or federal records to ensure accuracy.
Participate and collaborate with other SMOC departments and staff to ensure appropriate case coordination between all SMOC programs.
Participates bi-weekly huddles and provides caseload updates to the RAFT Manager.
Engage all clients by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of work.
Maintain confidentiality of client, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.
Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, as well as SMOC policies & procedures.
Cover front desk and attend to clients as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Associate's degree with one year of relevant work experience in social services or housing services with low-income, minority and disabled individuals preferred. Or three years of direct care/social service experience.
Strong oral and written communication skills in English; bilingual in either Spanish or Portuguese strongly preferred.
Experience in customer service, and working in fast paced environment a plus.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Internet search, and Outlook email.
Ability to work independently and carry ongoing caseload.
Ability to work under pressure and handle time sensitive tasks.
Assessment, advocacy and case management skills a plus.
Organizational Relationship:
Directly reports to RAFT Manager
Physical Requirement: Must be able to sit or stand for a prolonged period of time. Must be able to operate a computer and complete extensive paperwork. Must be able to lift up to 25lbs.
Working Conditions: As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Assessment Specialist will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required.
Hybrid Work Option: Hybrid work is permissible in some positions at SMOC depending on the key functions and responsibilities. The Assessment Specialist position is eligible to work from home 0-20% of the week in scheduling coordination with the department manager.
Monday through Friday: 9:00AM - 5:00PM. Includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeens
Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate all YMCA Teen programs which must include, but are not limited to: Y Achievers, Leaders Club, Youth and Government, safety and social networking, educational support, leadership programming and professional development.
Delivery of quality weekly teen programming that meet expectations for related grant and funding requirements; provide necessary information and statistics for reporting related to the program.
Recruit and retain teen involvement for all teen programs, manage roster and drive attendance and quality.
Provides direct service instruction/facilitation of 5-10 hours per week in programs.
Recruit, hires, trains, develop schedules and directs teen staff and volunteers as needed.
Reviews and Evaluates Staff Performance.
Establish and maintain relationships with local middle and high schools in the service area to help recruit and retain teens and partners with community organizations.
Represent and promote Y programs in the community and at events; Serves on at least one community-based committee to ensure the YMCA is viewed as a leader in serving teens.

Sports
Direct and Supervise Sports classes/activities to meet YMCA Objectives. Establishing new program activities and expands sports program at the center.
Delivery of quality instructional sports classes and sports leagues for youth 3yrs - 12yr olds with a focus and pre-school programming.
Ensures the timely development of sports session schedules that reflects age-appropriate classes and league activities.
Provides direct service instruction of 5 -10 hrs. per week in youth sports programs.
Markets and Distributes program information to YMCA members and the community to drive program enrollment.
Responds to all members and community inquiries related to Sports programming in a timely manner.
Monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives working with Associate Executive Director to meet revenue goals.
