Plains Pipeline, L.P. is offering an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated student to join our Health, Safety, and Environmental Remediation Team in the Midland office for a three month summer term beginning May 18, 2026.
This internship provides hands-on experience in environmental remediation and project management while supporting Plains' HSE and remediation programs. The position is designed to bridge the gap between academic studies and professional practice, offering exposure to technical fieldwork, data analysis, project coordination, and stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities
Support the coordination, management, and execution of environmental site assessment, remediation, and reclamation projects.
Coordinate field schedules with Remediation Inspectors.
Track and manage project budgets.
Participate in project management and staff planning meetings.
Review project documentation and communications.
Compile, interpret (with support), and communicate technical field data.
Prepare project status updates and maintain the NR Project Tracking List.
Organize and maintain project files and documentation.
Conduct project file reviews to gather site specific remediation data.
Support compliance with the Plains Remediation Process and HSE policies.
Interface with internal departments, vendors, and consultants to support project activities.
Perform administrative duties such as data compilation and project tracking.
Prepare and deliver an end-of-term presentation summarizing key findings, learnings, and accomplishments.
Qualifications
Must be available to work at the Midland, TX office at least five days per week for the full three-month term.
Occasional fieldwork may be required and could extend beyond standard work hours.
Preference given to 3rd- or 4th-year students pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or Engineering.
Must be able to start May 18, 2026, and commit to the full work term.
Self-motivated and eager to learn, with strong analytical and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong attention to detail and ability to manufacture information into clear conclusions and recommendations.
Prior experience in environmental services, engineering, or administrative support is considered an asset.
Must be flexible and adaptable to everchanging daily objectives.
Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

The Plains Internship Program will provide exceptional students interested in the oil and gas industry an opportunity to continue their professional development with the best in the business. The HSE Training Intern will work alongside Plains training developers focusing on training development, asset management, and training documentation projects. The types of projects could include reviewing training modules, updating links, updating training content, testing modules, creating reviewing and cataloging current visual assets, reviewing post course survey data, compiling survey results, and general office work. They will also be assisting with data collection and analysis, reviewing metrics, and preparation of various training reports.

Role Summary:

* Become knowledgeable of petroleum terminal regulations. Stay aware of all environmental regulations, safety directives and operating procedures, to include Coast Guard, local, state and federal environmental agencies so that the terminal can assure compliance.
* Ensure that management is apprised of any area or issue that should be addressed regarding regulatory compliance including health, safety, security and environmental.
* Maintain a good relationship with all terminal customers and respond to their inquiries and needs as required.
* Following training, respond to terminal, pipeline, rail and marine related emergencies when called upon to do so. Participate in annual emergency response training drills.
* Responsible for the operation of all computer inventory control systems and participate in any inventory issue investigations.
* Be familiar with pipeline operations, handle pipeline product movements at the terminal and assist with other pipeline duties such as one call investigations if applicable, etc.
* Be familiar with marine operations, handle dock product movements at the terminal and assist with other marine duties as required.
* Support Asset Team to achieve high performance certification. May be required to act as Asset Team point person.
* Support Buckeye terminal operations and assist in special projects as needed.

Position Requirements:
