This position works under the supervision of the Health Center Manager. Essential Functions:1. Ensure that each patient receives the care and information they need by providing efficient, effective, and customer-oriented service in a civil, courteous, warm, and sensitive manner.4. Participate in Health Center efforts: • in compliance with organizational quality assurance guidelines and pertinent government regulations including CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA. • in achievement of medical visit efficiency and productivity goals. • in attainment of annual health center fiscal goals in revenue, expenses, and contribution margins.5. Provide information, assistance, and support for patients facing emotional, family, and/or financial problems related to healthcare; help patients needing referral for services related to pre-natal care, adoption services, abortion services, financial assistance, and personal family counseling.6. Provide medications and contraceptive supplies, and provide information and instructions for their use, as appropriate and delegated by the Health Center Manager and medical staff; maintain inventory count of medications and contraceptive supplies; ensure no expired medications or contraceptive supplies are being dispersed.7. Assist in the clerical and informational tasks related to proper follow-up of patients according to the protocols and procedures of PPIL.8. Assist in the care and maintenance of PPIL equipment and efforts to maintain efficient, clean, and comfortable work locations.9. Participate, as assigned, in routine Health Center chart audits and quality assurance procedures.10. Provide PPIL approved information about family planning methods, abortion, and other services offered and give regular feedback to Health Center Manager regarding training and continuing education needs.11. Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to remain informed about PPIL protocols, policies, and procedures.12. Position Overview: The Physician Assistant (PA) provides direct client care, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, and prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment of health problems, health promotion and preventive care within this specialized area of practice under the supervision of a licensed physician. The PA is involved in practice activities with the goal of improving the quality of care in an outpatient setting. Essential Responsibilities: Performs psychiatric diagnostic evaluations to determine diagnoses, treatment strategies, and care coordination needs for clients with mental health, substance use, or other psychiatric and medical needs. Provide all psychiatric and/or medical services within reasonable and expected medical standards, timelines, and in conformance with all requirements imposed by the applicable health licensing boards. Applies medical knowledge and skills to the process of diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of illnesses. Maintain timely, complete, accurate and legible medical records for all patients evaluated and treated by the Physician Assistant. Performs timely, concurrent, accurate clinical/billing documentation meeting professional standards in compliance with State and Federal regulations, clinical necessity, and appropriate coding standards. Performs pharmacologic treatment strategies, orders medications, monitors, and evaluates progress on psychiatric and/or other medications Order, obtain and assess appropriate laboratory tests and diagnostics. Base clinical decisions on laboratory interpretation. This position works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide clinical services and coordinate care to mental health patients. Assures timely access to care, demonstrates flexibility in scheduling to fully meet client needs, and meets applicable productivity standards Under the supervision of an MD or DO, the PA will assume client care responsibilities inclusive of psychiatric evaluation, professional diagnoses and prescribing and/or administering treatment. Completes medication and health education to include but not limited to informed consent, benefits, risks, side effects, and alternative treatments for medications ordered, health/wellness management, metabolic risk reduction strategies Care coordination: Professional and timely communication/care coordination with client/families/involved agencies/ PCP/ and other specialty care providers to ensure timely and coordinated treatment planning and evaluation of patient progress. Conduct Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation mappings/remapping procedures once trained and demonstrates competency. Remain in compliance with state laws and regulations for PA, including meeting supervised hour requirements, CME, and completing appropriate assessments in timely manner with supervising physician. Other Duties: Attend weekly mandatory supervisory meeting with physician or as deemed appropriate by supervising physician or Chief Medical Officer. Assists as required by supervisor with other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an NCCPA-approved physician assistant program 1-year clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting preferred Current Physician Assistant full and unrestricted licensure in the state of practice and active state DEA License required. PA with Psych Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) preferred. BLS from the American Heart Association required.
