    The Pediatric Home Care Educator is responsible for educating, orienting, and validating clinical staff who provide in-home nursing care to pediatric patients. This role ensures staff competency, regulatory compliance, and safe, family-centered care in accordance with Ohio regulations, hospital policies, and evidence-based pediatric practice. Responsibilities: 1. Provide initial and ongoing education for pediatric home care nurses (RNs and LPNs). 2. Deliver pediatric-specific training including high-acuity skills such as tracheostomy and ventilator care, enteral nutrition, medication administration, seizure management, and infection control. 3. Design and deliver education using adult-learning principles (classroom, virtual, skills lab, and return demonstrations). 4. Complete initial, annual, and ongoing competency assessments per agency policy and Ohio requirements. 5. Validate clinical skills through observation, simulation, and return demonstration. 6. Provide remediation, coaching, and individualized education plans as needed. 7. Ensure education programs meet Ohio Department of Health (ODH), Ohio Board of Nursing (OBN), Medicaid, and accredited body requirements. 8. Support compliance with care plans, physician orders, and scope-of-practice standards. 9. Educate staff on clinical policies, procedures, and regulatory updates impacting pediatric home care. 10. Assist in development and revision of pediatric-specific clinical policies and skills checklists. 11. Track mandatory education and competency completion and report compliance to leadership. 12.     Job Posting Description Staff Nurse, Nurse Educator Diabetes Key Responsibilities: Coordinating patient self-management initiatives in a family centric program for pediatric and adolescent patients in Boston Children's Hospital's Division of Endocrinology's ADA recognized outpatient diabetes self-management education program. The program uses a multi-disciplinary approach in the management of children and adolescents with diabetes (Type 1, Type 2, steroid induced and cystic fibrosis related) and their families. Working with patients diagnosed with diabetes and their families, to facilitate improving self-management age specific goals for all patients; providing lifestyle coaching, and conducting one-on-one patient visits and group visits in a hospital clinic setting. Providing patient and family education; collaborating with outside community resources including but not limited to school and insurer-based case coordination services. Providing case management including oversight and interpretation of laboratory results for patients with diabetes; ordering of therapeutics, durable medical supplies and refills for prescription medications; as well as coordination of referrals and diagnostic studies as needed in consultation with the patient's physician. Working 40 hours per week, day shift M-F. (Availability to work at Weymouth and N. Dartmouth primarily as well as some time in Boston) Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (for RNs) Experience: Minimum 1 year RN experience required. Minimum 2 years as a Diabetes Nurse Educator with a strong clinical background and experience in content areas such as patient education, diabetes, diabetes technologies (insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors, smart pens), nutrition, physical fitness and other health related topics preferred. Knowledge of community resources and previous experience working with diverse patient populations across the age spectrum. The ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team which includes nutrition, social workers, physicians, and other diabetes nurse educators. Effective and energetic style to develop and maintain therapeutic relationships and self-directed skills with a strong desire to impact patients with diabetes and their families. Licensure/ Certifications: A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Registered Nurse Current certification in diabetes education (CDCES) preferred but must acquire within 1 year of employment.
