How you'll contribute
A Senior Specialist Education who excels in this role:
Collaborates with nurse managers and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff.
Designs, delivers, and assesses learning activities and curriculums related to clinical competencies, departmental/organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and the use of clinical information technologies.
Serves as a consultant/mentor for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.
Participates in the development, coordination, and delivery of new staff orientation and education activities.
Assists in development and implementation of educational programs/learning aids for clinical and non-clinical associates.
Plans, coordinates, organizes, implements, and evaluates orientation programs, continuing education, and in-services that enhance associate job performance.
Keeps appropriate educational records. Maintains A-V equipment, books, 0and educational supplies.
Prepares schedules as needed for educational in-services and coordinates with persons involved: i.e., presenters, community, departments.
Conducts and assists others in orientation, in-services, continuing education, or workshops; meets requirements for providing contact hours, as requested.
Maintains appropriate records, documentation for educational in-services, and educational records for associates' educational activities.

What we're looking for
The right person will be provide oversight for and participate in planning, direction, coordination, for the educational activities for the facility. This includes program development as well as staff education and patient education. The Senior Education Specialist serves as a resource person to staff and management.
Applicants must have a current VA RN (or compact state) License. Additional requirements include:
Graduate of a professional school of Nursing.
Master's degree or currently enrolled in Master's in Nursing program required.
Basic Life Support certification is required.
Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting required,
One (1) year of formal/informal teaching experience preferred
One (1) year of management experience preferred

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for mentoring, training, and developing our Emergency and ICU staff through one-on-one coaching, hands-on instruction, and oversight of educational progress. This role is key in fostering the professional growth and clinical competency of our veterinary assistants and technicians. In this role, you will:
Provide individualized, hands-on training to veterinary assistants and technicians in clinical procedures, protocols, and client communication
Develop and implement training plans tailored to team member experience and goals
Track progress and provide ongoing assessments and feedback to support team development
Work collaboratively with leadership to identify skills gaps and provide appropriate educational resources
Foster a positive, supportive learning environment focused on skill advancement and professional growth
Coordinate ongoing training and case discussions, continuing education activities, and internal workshops
Participate in direct patient care, either in a one-to-one training capacity or by managing patients independently

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Monitors worksite contracts and facilitates client job orientation and training to ensure that client behavior meets acceptable community standards for the work setting
Maintains current job site including employee relationships, client productivity, and client progress
Coordinates with placement staff by providing job leads and information for consumers ready to move to a community placement
Assists with job coaching needs for placement department
Assists with required documentation and tracking processes
Maintains unit records of consumer contact to include unit counts, attendance sheets, Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan (SOAP) notes and daily checklists
Assists with weekly coordination of site coverage
Implements, reviews, and maintains Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) procedures adhering to department and CCS policies and procedures
May drive agency or personal vehicle on company business

In a work setting: (a) monitors and teaches work related skills and behaviors such as appropriate communication, on-task behavior, grooming, appropriate social interactions; (b) identifies employer or supported employee concerns and tries to resolve potential problems without intruding on the employer/supervisor relationships; (c) ensures that task is completed according to the standard established for that task
Maintains contact with employer and employee to ensure job success
Liaisons with individual served, family, employer, and any other parties to remove all barriers to successful competitive employment and continued employment
