Job Description With indirect supervision, receives and responds to routine and more complex inquiries; under supervision of Deputy Director, Senior Planner and Building Official assists with reviewing land use applications for compliance with submission requirements; enters application information and maintains databases and records; assists with collecting and analyzing data and formulating recommendations relating to land use variance applications; drafts staff reports for land use applications for finalizing by Senior Planner; assists with preparing agenda and organizing zoning board meetings; assists with research and projects involving regulation amendments, plan amendments; and assists with preparing special reports and projects. Assists Deputy Director with negotiations on issues and conditions on behalf of the County with other stakeholders, including applicants, citizens, and other departments; presents routine and minor staff reports at public hearings before the Planning Commission, Zoning Boards, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Board of County Commissioners; assists Deputy Director in preparing regulation interpretations both orally and in writing; assists as staff liaison to task forces, committees, and advisory boards. Assists Deputy Director annd Building Official with the development review process by coordinating pre-application meetings and distributing plans for review by Planning, Building Codes, and other County departments. Coordinates and monitors building permit reviews for the Planning Division, performs site inspections, ensures all steps and requirements in development review process are met, and serves as staff liaison with applicants to ensure complete and efficient review process for building permits. Serves as a resource to internal and external stakeholders; networks with technical professionals through involvement in professional organizations and attending conferences, seminars and programs. Job Requirements Minimum Job Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Planning or other relevant field is required. A valid driver's license and good driving record is also required along with one year of experience in planning, zoning, or other relevant area or a Master's degree in a relevant field of study can substitute for experience. Preferred Job Requirements: A Master's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or other relevant field is preferred. Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency. Job Description The Transit Planner manage daily operations and strategic service deployment in cooodination with local and regional transportation and planning agencies.It provide support and back-up for the Transportation Division Director. They help implement division's goals and objectives, oversee budgeting and capital projects that support the County's strategic plan for Transit. Also they manage and oversee Transit planning and marketing strategies. Job Duties include: Identify and assess strategic service deployment in coordination with local and regional planning agencies. Manage and oversee planning studies that will impact public transit service in the metropolitan area. Responsible for day to day input and involvement with customers, businesses and public agencies for short-term and long-term transit strategies. Analyze and review public input, defined and anticipated mobility needs, and create short-term and longer term plans for Transit operations. Research and evaluate information route development and/or restructure through public outreach and reviewing service requests. Research and recommend solutions by collaborating with Transit staff, vendors, other transit agencies and local planners and public works staff. Negotiate, facilitate and mediate transit options to local cities, sucha as transit development, roadway improvements and passenger amenities. Facilitate and coordinate with Transportation Council, including establishing agendas, coordinating information flow, and creating strategies based on Council's input and direction. Coordinate with other staff, area transportation providers, users and other interested parties to refine and implement Transit's established and/or pilot programs.Identify and recommend best practices for service deployment options.
