This position provides innovative long-range planning services, land use, special area, urban design, and other planning services and will report to the Comprehensive Planning Administrator and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the vision of the city laid out in the Comprehensive Plan. Primary duties associated with this position are as follows: * Comprehensive Plan Policy: Assist with updates to the city's Comprehensive Plan (approximately every 5 years) along with more specific amendments as deemed necessary. Review development applications and proposals for consistency with Comprehensive Plan policy and prepare detailed reports on comprehensive planning, special area plans, and design guidelines for consideration by the Planning Commission and City Council. * Area Planning Policy: Assist with the maintenance and update of Strategic Growth Areas (SGA) and other area plans and design guidelines. * Development Review: Evaluate and determine consistency of various development items with the Comprehensive Plan, Master Transportation Plan, and relevant area plans/guidelines. * Public Outreach and Input: Provide support for public input on proposed planning policies under consideration by the Planning Commission and City Council.
