Position Summary The Manufacturing Manager at BORGA Steel Buildings and Components plays a critical leadership role in driving the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing facility in Fowler, California. This position directly oversees the Weld Shop, Fabrication Shop, and Logistics Supervisors, while owning full accountability for the efficiency, output, quality, safety, and continuous improvement of all manufacturing operations. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Manufacturing Manager champions lean manufacturing principles to optimize processes, reduce waste, and meet aggressive production targets in our high-quality pre-engineered steel buildings, welded structural frames, roofing/siding panels, secondary framing, and custom components. Key Responsibilities Ensure strict compliance with OSHA safety regulations, company quality standards, and environmental policies. Lead and manage production teams across the Weld Shop (including robotic weld cells for high-strength structural members), Fabrication Shop, and Logistics. Own overall manufacturing performance metrics, including on-time delivery, throughput, labor efficiency, scrap/waste reduction, equipment uptime, and first-pass quality yields. Develop and implement production schedules, resource allocation, and workflow optimization to maximize output while maintaining Borga's standards for precision and durability. Drive lean manufacturing initiatives (5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping, continuous improvement projects) to eliminate waste, improve cycle times, and enhance process flow from steel coil intake to finished product shipment. Supervise, coach, and develop direct reports (shop supervisors, leads, welders, fabricators, machine operators, and logistics staff), including performance management, training, succession planning, and fostering a safety-first, team-oriented culture. Monitor and control production costs through effective material usage, labor productivity, inventory management, and coordination with purchasing steel and supplies. Collaborate closely with engineering, sales/project management, and quality teams to resolve issues, incorporate design changes, and align production with customer specifications and timelines. Implement and monitor production targets, KPIs, and lean manufacturing principles to optimize processes and reduce waste. Oversee maintenance and installation of equipment, tooling, robotic systems, and facility infrastructure to minimize downtime and support technological advancements. Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience in steel/metal manufacturing will be considered. 7-10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing/production management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory/leadership role overseeing weld, fabrication, or metal processing operations in steel fabrication, structural steel, pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), or similar heavy manufacturing environments. Proven expertise in lean manufacturing methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, continuous improvement tools) with demonstrated success implementing and sustaining them to drive efficiency gains. Strong technical knowledge of steel fabrication processes, including welding (robotic and manual), cold-forming/rolling, CNC punching/cutting, secondary framing, and material handling/logistics in a metal building or component manufacturing setting. Experience managing multi-shift or high-volume production teams (20-50+ personnel) in a fast-paced facility. Proficiency with production/ERP systems, scheduling tools, and data-driven decision-making. Exceptional leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills; hands-on leader comfortable working on the shop floor.     Job Description We're looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our team and oversee daily hauling operations across the Central Valley. In this key leadership role, you'll guide our drivers, dispatchers, and support staff to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service for our communities. What You'll Do Lead the Team: Supervise and support drivers, dispatchers, and supervisors to ensure smooth daily operations. Champion Safety: Enforce company safety standards, conduct audits, and maintain full DOT and OSHA compliance. Drive Efficiency: Monitor performance, control costs, and look for ways to improve routes, labor, and equipment use. Partner with the Community: Build strong relationships with city officials, municipal partners, and key stakeholders. Develop Talent: Coach, train, and motivate your team to reach their full potential. Collaborate: Work closely with the Maintenance Department and other teams to keep our fleet and operations running at their best. Problem Solve: Tackle challenges head-on and make sound, proactive decisions that keep routes on track. Engage Locally: Support special projects, community cleanups, and events that make a real impact. What You'll Bring Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Management, or a related field preferred. Experience: 5+ years of leadership experience in operations, transportation, or logistics (waste industry experience a plus!). License: Valid California driver's license; Class A or B CDL preferred. Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred. Skills & Strengths: Strong leadership and people management skills Strategic thinker with great problem-solving abilities Excellent communication and organization Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and industry compliance standards Proficient in Microsoft Office and route management software (Encore experience a plus) Customer-focused mindset with a drive for results Physical Requirements Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with both office and field activity. Regularly required to sit, walk, reach, and communicate effectively. This position is responsible for the sorting and packing of over one million cartons of fresh California citrus. Ability to manage individual workflow effectively with coworkers both written and verbally. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred. Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift.
