EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Journeyman level training with emphasis related to mechanical, electrician and instrumentation work.

The Water Treatment PlantOperator will report to the Water Treatment Plant Supervisor and is responsible for operation and of the underground and surface water treatment facilities, complying with environmental and safety practices, and accurate record keeping. Arranges cafeteria, multi-purpose rooms, and other rooms for meetings and special events.
Replaces light bulbs.
Raises and lowers flag each day school is in session.
Locks and secures building as required.
Cleans up all spills during shift.
Sweeps halls and entryways daily.
Regularly checks restrooms during shift for cleanliness and replenishes supplies as needed.
Assists teachers as requested.
Cleans assigned area on a daily basis.
Receives, accounts for, and stores school and custodial supplies and equipment when delivered.
Cleans stopped/clogged plumbing fixtures, or reports problems when necessary.
Waters and maintains lawns and shrubs immediately surrounding the school.
Washes exterior windows.

• Perform PMS on generation units, from oil changes to major overhauls.

• Meter reading, fuel tank dipping, fuel handling.

JOB SUMMARY
Work independently and with a team to maintain facilities and grounds. Incumbent will work in the diesel power plant to help maintain the facilities and the diesel generators. Part of the job includes reading meters, basic cleaning and maintenance on the premises surrounding the power plant and Solar PV Farm. This requires attention to safety regulations for the industry and is important for overall safety on the job. Perform assembly, commissioning, testing, repair and maintenance on diesel generators, solar arrays, battery storage, facilities and related equipment at site.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Conduct and review safety analyses of potential electrical and mechanical hazards in the power plant and switch room
Support Root Cause Analyses to assist in determining equipment failure and the reasons for failures when they occur
Complete required and accurate documentation associated with corrective and preventive maintenance of solar arrays and associated equipment; maintain records of documentation
Troubleshoot, adjust, repair, and/or retrofit low to medium voltage electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic components and equipment associated with diesel generators
Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures
Perform preventative maintenance activities safely and efficiently on solar PV arrays and associated equipment located on the solar PV farm
Utilize appropriate safety gear, protective equipment, and control or dissipation of energy sources to ensure work is performed in a safe manner
Conduct safety analysis and review of hazards and energy sources before and while performing any work assignment on the Solar PV farm
Properly maintain tools and equipment used to perform assigned maintenance assignments
Maintain required training certifications and qualifications to enable personnel to safely perform work-related tasks in a quality manner

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.

About the Job:
The Water Treatment PlantOperator will report to the Water Treatment Plant Supervisor and is responsible for operation and of the underground and surface water treatment facilities, complying with environmental and safety practices, and accurate record keeping. The schedule for this position is 14 days on at the mine site located about 45-miles north of Juneau, accessible only through company transportation, and 14 days off.
Responsibilities:
Operating a portion of the following; two 1000 - 3000 gpm mine water treatment facilities, a potable water system, an underground water treatment system, and a 10,000-gpd sewage treatment plant in a safe, cost efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.
Safely maintains and repairs water-treatment equipment such as pumps, piping, and filtration systems; operates water treatment systems as per standard operating procedures.
Plans and completes work based on Coeur Alaska's guidelines for general work practices, safety, and environmental compliance.
Trouble shooting, diagnosing, modifying, and repairing stationary equipment in on a surface and or underground environments.
Responsible for pre-shift inspection of work areas and equipment and responds accordingly to noted deficiencies.
Maintain treatment system logs, databases, spreadsheets, documenting plant performance, and strictly adheres to plant housekeeping standards.
Perform all applicable required paperwork and workplace documentation as required by the company.

Must meet at designated locations to receive instructions and place on a life jacket and an immersion suit without assistance in one minute or less. Must also move quickly without assistance to any designated lifeboat station.

Job Description
Homer Electric Association (HEA) is a member-owned electric utility serving the central and southern areas of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. We are excited to be searching for a Power PlantOperator/Rover in the Soldotna Power Plant. This is normally a Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. position, but the work will require working other schedules. Starting and working locations will vary as needed for the work. Must recognize the responsibility of the cooperative to its members to provide continuity of service which will require working overtime on a scheduled or unscheduled basis. This position requires the employee to provide on-call response when scheduled for standby duty.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for monitoring power plantoperations; performing routine maintenance activities to ensure plant equipment are in excellent working order; perform minor electrical/mechanical construction for capital improvements as required.
Monitor and record plantoperations and alarms. Conduct periodic rounds on equipment to ensure proper function and operations. Determine and/or correct the cause of alarms and/or protect relay functions.
Assist in the proper execution of LOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out) to allow for maintenance activities by plant personnel or contractors.
Provide manual power plantoperation upon failure of the SCADA/DCS system or as directed.
Operating equipment as needed to support the power plant equipment and operation.
Maintaining plant equipment logs and records and provide input for development of maintenance schedules.
Create and maintain logs and records as required to document hours, power levels, repairs, and outages.
Write work orders on malfunctioning equipment and complete all other work orders as assigned.
Available and fit for duty during all hours when assigned on-call Standby Duty and provide prompt response to the power plants as required.
At times must work with or around consumers. Therefore, must provide a highly professional level of prompt, efficient, accurate, courteous, and reliable service in such a manner as to reflect credit on the management of the Association and to assure utmost service to the membership.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have advanced technical training and experience in gas turbine, steam turbine, or hydro turbine operation and maintenance.
Five (5) years of work experience specific to the operations and maintenance of power generation facilities.
Journeyman level training with emphasis related to mechanical, electrician and instrumentation work.
Ideal candidates would be able to demonstrate a strong background in plantoperations.
Background as a plant or commercial instrumentation, controls, and/or electrician is highly regarded and preferred.
Background as a diesel or heavy-duty mechanic or millwright is highly regarded.
REQUIRED LICENSES, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Must submit a valid Alaska Driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
Must pass initial and random drug and alcohol testing and maintain a safe drug and alcohol-free work environment.
Must possess or be able to obtain a CPR/First Aid card.
Working knowledge of computers, electronic control, industrial electrical and mechanical systems, pumps, compressors, other auxiliary equipment and be able to apply the knowledge in the daily work practices.
Excellent communication skills both orally and written.
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills to anticipate, identify and resolve practical problems.
Must be able to read and comprehend relevant instructions manuals, construction drawings, electrical diagrams, and maps.
Must be able to have the ability to perform linear algebra, conversions, understand and calculate measurements.
