Operating hydrovac equipment and performing hydrovac duties in a variety of working environments, including confined spaces
Driving our hydrovac trucks (10-15% of total work time)
Attending safety meetings
Performing routine inspections and minor repairs of the hydrovac equipment
Preparing work areas by setting up safety measures and addressing potential hazards
Documenting and reporting all Badger, Federal, State, and Customer paperwork accurately and efficiently
What We're Looking For:
Must have a valid Class A or B CDL
CPR/First Aid, Fall Protection and OSHA 10 certification
(preferred)
Experience driving a manual transmission (10-18 speed) without automatic restrictions
(preferred)
Ability to work variable shifts with extended hours
Must be willing to travel up to 25%
Must be able to lift, push, pull 50+ pounds and have the physical stamina for manual labor in varying weather conditions
Prior hydrovac equipment operations or related industrial experience
(preferred)
Must be at least 21 years of age

Position Responsibilities

This position will safely operate the Dillard steam plant, which consists of three high-pressure steam boilers with the combined capacity of 550,000 lbs. per hour of 600lb steam
Five Combined steam turbines capable of 35 MW of power generation
The operator is responsible for the distribution of the 12,500 Volt and 4160 Volt electrical load to the Dillard complex and to the grid, and will assist with configuring the plant to "Island Mode" if loss of power occurs from PP&L.
This position monitors BAS (building automation system) alarms, and controls within the steam plant. The team member in this role must maintain the skills necessary for the ever-changing technology-based automation systems, by training and learning daily. The team member will be expected to complete a Work order to help with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on power plant, and building equipment.
Decisions:
Position works as a member of a team. Decisions made by this position affect the entire complex. The team member is responsible for maintaining a continuous flow of electricity, steam, and air to the complex in normal and emergency situations. What does a Wastewater Collection Certified Operator do in a typical work day?
Daily assignments will vary, but duties include:
Inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining sanitary sewer and stormwater collection systems to ensure proper flow and prevent blockages.
Operating a variety of equipment such as dump trucks, backhoes, jet trucks, and rodding machines to clean or repair pipelines and manholes.
Performs installation and repair work on sewer lines, manholes, and service connections.
Responds to sewer backups, overflows, and emergency calls to restore service and protect public health.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions and seasons
The Wastewater Collection Division operates 24/7, 365 days per year. Team members regularly work 8-12 hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and may work extended hours when coverage needs or emergencies arise
Duties may involve working in confined spaces, trenches, or at heights, and around heavy equipment and traffic, including instances of pipeline construction and repair projects
Must be able to lift at least 90 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods
Must be able to climb in and out of heavy equipment, ascend and descend stairs and ladders, and access/perform work in excavated utility ditches
Employees may be regularly assigned "on call" shifts, with requirements for response during off-duty periods

Qualifications and Education Requirements
· High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
· Two years' experience working at a Class II or III potable water treatment plant.
· Must possess a valid OHA Drinking Water Level I Distribution
Must possess a valid OHA Level II Treatment Systems Certificate
· Must possess a valid Driver's License
· Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
Job Conditions
· Work is performed inside the water treatment plant and outside and may require working in confined spaces.
· Exposure to physical hazards from extreme conditions while gathering samples, wet slippery work environments, confined spaces, loud noises, operating machinery and electrical systems, sewage, gases, fumes, and chemicals.
· Some heavy lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, bending, and climbing.
· The position may require working nights, weekends, holidays and being on-call.
2025 Employment Benefits Summary
Health, Dental and Vision Insurance starts the first of the month following 60 days of employment. Currently the Port pays 100% of family coverage.
If you have other group coverage, this can be waived and receive 30% of premium value in pay.
The Port will fund $2000 into an HRA-VEBA account yearly to assist with deductible and copay amounts.
Short-term and Long-term disability benefits available. Premium is paid by the Port.
Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is available. Participation is voluntary and paid by employee.
Aflac is available. Participation is voluntary and paid by the employee.
Retirement 401A Plan is mandatory participation with employee contribution of 6% immediately and Employer match of 9% annually at end of the fiscal year. Vesting of employer match is 100% at 6th year.
Retirement 457B Plan is voluntary participation with an Employer match of up to 1% annually at end of fiscal year.
Vacation accrues at 2 weeks for the first year (3.1 hours per pay period), and at 3 weeks (4.7 hours per pay period) during years 2-4 and continues every 5 years.
Sick leave accrues until 52 hours is reached each year. 16 of these hours per year may be used as personal leave.
Annual membership to Life Flight is paid by the Port.
Employee membership to the Boardman Pool and Rec Center, paid by the Port. You can add family members at your cost.
