IHI has an opportunity for an Operations Technician for our West Deptford, NJ plant. The hourly rate range for this position is $43.00 to $51.00. The Operations Technician assists in the safe and efficient operation of the power plant and the supporting equipment and systems. Carries out all routine HRSG/water chemistry analysis, equipment inspections, monitors operating components, performs minor maintenance and plant status.
Job Summary
The Operations Technician operates from established and well-known procedures under minimum supervision performing duties independently with only general direction given. The Operations Technician encounters recurring work situations of moderate complexity, with occasional variations from the norm. Decisions are made within prescribed operating and casualty procedures and guidelines.
The Operations Technician must perform work in a safe manner resulting in no accidents, in compliance with all environmental permits at all times. Must effectively communicate information to supervision and fellow plant personnel, relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance and provide suggestions for plant improvements. The Operations Technician must perform duties in such a way to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio. All employees have the responsibility to both the customer and their co-workers to do the job right the first time and to ensure the customer's needs are being met.
Job Functions
Assist in start-up, shut-down and normal operations of power plant systems.
Operate major auxiliary apparatus such as: air compressors; circulating water systems; boiler feedwater treatment system; water systems; boiler feedwater and condensate system; and locally controlled electrical and mechanical equipment.
Perform operating tests and inspections and make minor repairs and adjustments to equipment assigned to achieve proper operating conditions.
Execute orders from the Shift Supervisor/Control Room Operator on isolated panels for clearing equipment or making it ready for service in accordance with operating instructions and procedures; clear, tag, test and safety tape these operations.
Perform routine water chemistry analysis..
Maintain logs as assigned.
Report any abnormal or irregular conditions that develop during the progress of the work and take corrective measures within the scope of operating instructions.
Assist maintenance personnel during maintenance periods.
Complete other tasks as required by the Shift Supervisor/Control Room Operator or the Operations Manager (Plant Leadership team).
Reports to the Shift Supervisor and receives work direction from the CRO.
Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
Must be able to obtain a Low Pressure Black Seal NJ Boiler Operator license within 6 months of employment.
Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school.
Minimum of two years of experience in Power PlantOperations desirable.
Experience in water chemistry control, analysis of water conditions, water treatment facility operations and chemical handling requirements is required.
Theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion/steam turbine operations, closed system steam generation, industrial safety, hazardous waste management and inspection/recording of plant parameters is highly desirable.
Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process controls desirable.
Extensive working knowledge of power plant industry desirable.
Must successfully complete a plantoperator's knowledge examination.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.

Monitor elevators for various buildings. Check cars at start of shift for proper running operation and report problems. Report problems from passengers. If possible, control room operator will try and correct the problem., if not the call will be dispatched to the elevator mechanic to problem area with all information. Mechanic will then notify control room when the car is clear and back in service. Control Room operator calms passengers through intercom system until they are safely taken off the car. The information is then logged in the Elevator Log Book.
Monitor Building Automation Systems for proper operation and temperatures and report alarms to mechanic to make adjustments. Monitor Medical Gas systems and report alarms as they come in to the Supervisor. For nitrous oxide alarms, call vendor and set up tank pick up and delivery. If repairs to the Building Automation Systems are required all information must be logged on the Building and Problem Log sheet. If Building Automation problems continue and immediate response is needed contact the Supervisor for follow-up action.
Monitor Translogic Pneumatic System. System must be checked at the start of each shift for alarms. If the system is clear of alarms purge system to clear lost carriers. When carrier repairs are needed or there is station trouble or transfer unit alarms occur, dispatch mechanic for repairs. Initiate a work order with coordinating equipment ID Clear alarms through diagnostics and put system up. Log alarms in Translogic log book.
Monitor scheduled shutdowns as posted in the Control Room. Notify supervisor in the area of shutdown as to what type it is. Post equipment or fire system out of service due to shutdown on information board located in the Control Room.
When each shift begins all radios and beepers are to be dispatched to mechanics with equipment log sheets. Log radio ID and battery ID on radio log sheet. Organize shift coverage paperwork for turnover and submit to Accounting and Systems for processing.
All service calls to vendors for repairs are reported to the Control Room and logged in the log book whether a vendor is called for scheduled service or an emergency. The Supervisor decides the status for emergency service. Equipment is posted on the information board with reason for repairs needed. A work order is processed for any kind of service and an equipment ID number is recorded for history and information purposes. Notify the next shift control room operator of service calls.
Programming of the Building Automation Systems are keyed in and changed on hard copy in the Control Room. New information is entered with relay assignments, messages to print upon alarm and prioritize segregation as needed. Set up event programs with coordinating time program schedules as needed for points to function in system. Inform security of any rebooting of the Building Automation Systems. Solve any problems security might have in reference to door alarms, panic alarms or other security point trouble. Build graphics and back up system when necessary.

Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for mixing/blending of materials, paint matching, and operation of process equipment
• Monitor the performance of plant equipment and process conditions utilizing various
instruments, gauges and meters
• Unloading of rail cars and tank wagons
• Operate a forklift to stage materials
• Responsible for assuring the product is made correctly according to standard manufacturing orders
• Complete production reporting and quality control reporting in a timely and accurate manner
• Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.
• Perform quality control analysis during the manufacturing steps, including drawing samples of
raw materials or from the process for laboratory testing
• Must follow all safety procedures, act in a safe manner at all times and have an understanding
and awareness of chemicals and their nature, hazards, safety and health issues etc. (TDS's, use of PPE etc.)
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
• 2+ years in a chemical plant environment is desired, Paint/Color matching experience a plus
• High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associate's degree or higher a plus.
• Must have effective verbal and written English communication skills
• Able to work overtime and nights as required

• Ability to work well under minimal supervision
• Attention to details, organization ability and ability to interact well with others.
• Must be able to operate basic hand tools
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work in a chemical manufacturing plant environment.

The PlantOperator 2 processes previous service gas cylinders in preparation for new gas production. The Technician operates various types of equipment within the cylinder preparation area in accordance with Airgas standard work procedures to properly empty previous contents and prepare gas cylinders. Responsible for safety, product quality, and productivity during the work shift. Sorts cylinders according to cylinder size and service, scrapes and paints cylinders, maintains organization in the cylinder yard, moves cylinders by forklift and handcart within the facility. Inspects and prepares high and low pressure cylinders for the filling process, performs required maintenance on cylinders. Load and unload common carrier trucks and Airgas shuttle trucks.
Sort and evaluate incoming gas cylinders.
Move cylinders to designated processing areas.
Scrape labels from cylinders.
Paint and apply temperature coating to cylinders.
Perform visual Inspection of gas cylinders.
Install new cylinder valves in both low and high pressure cylinders.
Operate vacuum pumps, cylinder driers, cylinder bake out system, high pressure manifolds and associated equipment.
Maintain prepped cylinder inventory ready for production, allocates cylinders to customer orders.
Maintain the cylinder yard in a clean and orderly manner. Stores cylinders in designated locations by service, cylinder size and valve type.
Perform valve and cylinder inventory.
Qualify to operate forklift and perform forklift inspection
Loading compressed gas cylinders onto and off of cylinder pallets.
Operate caustic scrubber to dispose of toxic gases.
Load and unload common carrier trucks and Airgas shuttles.
Perform maintenance on cylinder prep equipment.
Keep a clean and orderly work area.
Support Management team with regard to maintenance of Health and Safety and ISO Quality programs.
Other duties as assigned.

About the role
As an Auxiliary Operator, you will work in collaboration with our facility control room to operate and inspect various power plant systems safely and efficiently to ensure the operational effectiveness of Reworld's industrial disposal process.
Position Responsibilities:
Operate and inspect power plant systems in accordance with safety operating procedures, systems include, but are not exclusively limited to boilers, air pollution control systems, ash systems, and heavy industrial equipment
Monitor and inspect various boiler plant auxiliary equipment, including pumps, motors, fans, dampers, air compressors, valves, mixers, conveyors, turbine generators and electrical devices
Read and interpret data from meters, gauges, and industrial measuring tools to identify trends and/or potential equipment disruptions that impact facility operations
Monitor air pollution control equipment
Perform various types of material sampling, chemistry testing, and treatment of water, as required
Safely operate heavy industrial mobile equipment, such as: cranes, skid steers, loaders, and forklifts
Responsible to maintain correct levels of refuse-fuel in operations equipment, and ensure appropriate refuse mix in designated pits and areas of operations
Additional duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient facility operations
Position Requirements & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
A minimum of 2-3 years' experience operating heavy industrial equipment
Must have the ability to work a rotating shift schedule
