Key duties will include loading/unloading trucks, railcars and barges with a variety of chemical products. Chemical operators will run a small batch manufacturing operation within the terminal. Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Responsibilities): Load and unload barges, tank cars and tank trucks with a variety of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals. Running a small batch manufacturing process. Ensure timely and accurate completion of paperwork associated with the manufacturing/unloading/loading operations. Contribute to safety and quality meetings. Identify maintenance work and work with the Terminal or Manufacturing Supervisors to facilitate repairs as necessary. Perform incidental maintenance work on equipment as needed. Perform minor maintenance work on buildings and property as needed. General housekeeping of work area and other misc. duties as necessary. Minimum Qualifications Required Completed High School degree 0-4 Years of chemical manufacturing and/or distribution experience 1-5 Years of manufacturing or other heavy industrial experience Must be able to read/write/speak English Must be proficient in basic mathematics Must be able to pass a position based physical fitness test Other Preferred Knowledge/Experience Experience with driving OTR trucks either on the road or in a plant environment Experience with Safety and/or Quality programs Experience handling Chlor-Alkali, flammable/combustible, petroleum or other hazardous materials Physical Demands & Work Environment Requires lifting and handling of heavy objects; must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
