As a Journeyman Network Plant Technician (Fiber Tester), you will be responsible for the installation, testing, certification, and documentation of fiber optic infrastructure. This role plays a critical part in validating the performance and reliability of high-speed communications networks across the enterprise. Working within a structured cable plant engineering team, the Fiber Tester ensures that all fiber installations meet technical standards and specifications. This position performs hands-on testing using OTDR, light source / power meter, and other diagnostic tools to certify fiber links for continuity, loss, and integrity in both Inside Plant (ISP) and Outside Plant (OSP) environments. Position will be located at Buckley SFB. This position is contingent upon successful contract award to V2X. #clearance Responsibilities Major Job Activities: + Surveys, designs, and implements physical fiber connections, tests live / dark fiber, ensure splices and distributions suffer no loss in fidelity. + Splices and terminates fiber and copper cables used in telecommunications systems. + Performs work under the supervision and guidance of senior-level staff. + Performs fiber optic cable fusion splicing and testing with multifunctional splice machine. Lays cable along existing raceways. + Locates cables, snakes through walls, ceilings. + Assists with splicing overhead or underground cables used in telecommunications systems. + Assists with prefabricated communication shelters by assisting with ISP / OSP cable entrance and overhead cable tray. + Measures, cuts, installs, and tests (according to standards identified in test plan) fiber and copper cables. + Validates that all components have been properly installed, secured, grounded, and tested. + Ensures work site conditions (cleanliness), including restoration of the site to original or better condition. + Performs work under the supervision and guidance of senior-level staff. + Supports accurate cable labeling. + Generate reports for Site Project Manager. + Creates organized files for reporting and recordkeeping. Material & Equipment Directly Used: + General user capabilities of Microsoft software applications required (primarily Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word and Microsoft Teams or SharePoint). + Proficient with AutoCAD. Working Environment: Office environment with potential to support austere locations. Physical Activities: Must be able to lift / carry 50 lbs. Qualifications Education / Certifications: + High School Diploma or Associate Degree. + (Preferred) BICSI certification. + (Preferred) advanced certification on the testing equipment used to test the fiber. Experience / Skills: + Minimum of 7 years of experience performing as a Network Plant Technician supporting fiber installations solutions on large, complex networks with a High School or Associate Degree. + Experience supporting DoD projects, specifically network modernization projects. Clearance Requirement: + This position requires an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret (Tier 3) level clearance. The Production Operator follows established procedures to manufacture chemical intermediates and finished products. The Operator follows procedures that are set forth in the form of batch records and work instructions. This person completes a variety of duties: in addition to operating chemical processes, the employee may perform setup, cleaning of equipment, waste disposal, emergency response, warehouse activities, maintenance, and clean-up activities needed to facilitate general operations and regulatory compliance. Operators are given extensive safety and Operator-specific training before they are assigned process work. After the initial training period, Production employees work 12-hour shifts with alternating days off, and rotate between night and day shifts every 12 weeks. Operators are paid a shift differential when working night shift. Operators are required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as per the shift schedule which is published in advance. **Job Responsibilities** + Uses protective equipment (PPE) as needed to prevent exposure to dangerous chemicals + Follows established procedures as described by Batch Records, GEN's and Work Instructions and OPI's to manufacture chemical intermediates and finished products + Follows established procedures as described by SOP's and other operating procedures to maintain a safe working environment that complies with safety and environmental rules and regulations + Transfers raw materials, finished products, wastewater, waste solvents, and other wastes between tanks, drums, and shipping containers using pumps, pressure and other equipment; handles solid chemicals as chemical intermediates, products and waste + Labels hazardous waste containers as appropriate to maintain compliance with labeling regulations and times + Maintains records necessary to record process conditions as defined by procedures and as required in certain circumstances + Maintains the production area(s) in a clean and orderly condition + Performs yard and building cleanup as needed + Performs shipping, packaging and receiving activities as needed + Assists the Production Supervisor in record keeping with daily shift report, inventory sheets, tanker logs, and other documentation + Uses company computer/handheld devices to enter records and documents + Attends training as designated to facilitate above knowledge and to maintain required updates + Must be able to work in confined spaces + Must be able to use a respirator/supplied air when needed (Boulder Scientific provides the training) and follow OSHA, safety, and written guidelines + Handles drums, buckets, and other containers of hazardous and non-hazardous materials as products or waste. Some but not all of these activities including: + Combines partial drums to ensure all waste drums 90% full for shipping + Handles (scooping, shoveling, bucketing) wastes as needed + Repackages wastes for shipment to drum disposal facilities + Cleans drums for shipment to drum disposal facilities + Pumps wastes to tankers as needed **Qualifications** **Qualifications** + High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) + Must pass a basic math and reading assessment **Experience** + Prefer experience in construction, manufacturing, or oil & gas industries + Prefer experience working 12 hours and graveyard shifts + Prefer experience in a job that is indoor/outdoor and requires physical labor + Forklift Certification - training provided after hire by Boulder Scientific Company + Operator Introductory Training - training provided after hire by Boulder Scientific Company + Entry-level chemical production experience is helpful + Must be able to pass a job-related physical **Working Conditions** The job requires frequent work outside in all weather for short periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally push, roll and/or move up to 100 pounds.
