Operators I - IV, Plant - Water Division The purpose of this classification is to perform skilled technical work to operate, control and maintain equipment at the water treatment plant to maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental rules and regulations for the Department of Public Utilities. This position requires 12 hour rotating shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays. The level of this operator position will be determined based on the level of skill, experience and certification by the applicant. Essential Functions Operates an assigned water treatment plant. Monitors chemical feeds and distribution, flow rates, and related treatment processes. Reads meters, gauges and dials. Collects and tests water samples. Must be able to work scheduled and unscheduled shifts, including short-notice hours on off days, as needed to meet business requirements. Work may involve exposure to loud machinery, temperature variations, and other industrial hazards.
