OTS offers temporary, temp to hire, direct hire and emergency on-call opportunities including great benefits. POSITION: Water Distribution and Treatment Operator PAY RATE: $26 - $32/hr LOCATION: Tolland County, CT Seeking a full-time Operator for a water treatment and distribution system. As an operator you will report to the Plant Manager who will serve as the System's Primary Designated Operator. Working alongside a team, you will participate in the day-to-day operations and maintenance activities of the department's drinking water treatment and distribution systems. The system consists of two (2) sets of groundwater wells, each set with a treatment system, and six (6) storage tanks as well as the department's distribution system. Operators work M-F between the hours of 0700-1600. Operators rotate a 7 day on call coverage schedule, with a $200 per week on call stipend provided. Typical Duties Each day presents different challenges and learning opportunities as we work towards maintaining 100% compliance which is achieved by daily process monitoring and a comprehensive maintenance system. Working alongside a team, you will participate in the day-to-day operations and maintenance activities of the department's drinking water treatment and distribution systems. The system consists of two (2) sets of groundwater wells, each set with a treatment system, and six (6) storage tanks as well as the department's distribution system. Work is performed in a safe and professional manner by following established safety, operating, and emergency response procedures. Our operators participate in an “on call” rotation for system coverage outside normal workday hours and shifts may include weekends. In addition, operators will be required to respond to emergency situations and work in inclement weather as needed. Requirements Preferably possess a minimum of Connecticut Class 1 Treatment and Class 2 Distribution Operator Licenses - or the ability to acquire these licenses within 2 years. 1-3 years' experience in the water treatment and distribution industry preferred. Proficiency with computers, including an ability to work with: SCADA, Microsoft Word, Excel, Maintenance Management Programs, and other site-specific systems. Participation directly in, and to a significant extent, management of the operation, maintenance, and repair of drinking water facilities throughout the last 5 years. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. High school diploma or equivalent. Must possess a valid Connecticut driver's license. May require an irregular work schedule and overtime hours. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, other personnel, and the general public. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Familiarity with water treatment and distribution system processes with aptitude for laboratory analysis, record keeping, and facility maintenance. Must be able to lift or move up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis. Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment. Must Haves For Role: Meets the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance of these duties. Is able to be exposed to hazardous conditions. Is able to work shift, weekend and holiday schedules. Has ability to perform heavy lifting up to 50 lbs and other manual work under adverse conditions. The Co-Generation Plant produces high-pressure superheated steam, electrical power and chilled water to supply energy to the Storrs campus. The plant has three 7 MW Solar combustion turbines as well as a 5 MW steam turbine and associated support equipment. In addition, a new Supplemental Utility Plant has been brought online and four chillers are operational within the facility, and one boiler will be going through commissioning soon.     Job Description The Project Management Co-op acts as a resource to the Project Manager(s) by assisting in the planning, scheduling, and implementation of the construction process, to help ensure that the project meets the schedule and is completed within the budget. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Assist with the project buyout process, in accordance with company standards and in a timely manner taking into account such factors as project schedule, submittal review process and long lead time materials and equipment. Coordinate the submittal process with the schedule, review process and material lead times. Coordinate RFI's to address issues with interpretation of plans and specifications, missing information, incorrect details, incomplete information and other issues that require the direction of the Architect and Engineers Ensure that all required project documentation is completed in a timely manner, and maintained in the appropriate master project files inclusive of Daily reports, accident reports, -subcontractor logs, submittals, bulletins, drawing logs, sketches and as-built drawings Assist and drive BIM, thru use of navisworks etc. Assist with safety and accident reporting as required Help enforce all TCC Health and Safety Plan regulations. Assist with the coordination of deliverables to obtain necessary permits and licenses and, depending upon the contractual arrangements, monitoring compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations Assist in the tracking and cost control to avoid cost overruns Coordinate, track and receive timely approval of Change Orders Assist in the coordination of invoice approvals Coordinate timely completion and submission of project invoices and requisitions to the client, and providing follow up with client when required to ensure timely payments are received. Communicate with senior management in a timely manner if delays in payment are encountered Assist in meeting minutes recording and follow-up Distribute drawing revisions and address subcontractor issues Assist in the assembly of close-out documents Minimum/Preferred Requirements Education: Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in an applicable discipline Experience: Construction project management experience preferred; Internship and Co-op experience is recognized if applicable. OSHA 10-hr and LEED AP are a plus Knowledge/Skills: Experience working with contracts, plans, and specifications, and to be knowledgeable about construction methods, materials, and regulations. Familiarity with computers and software programs for job costing, online collaboration, scheduling and estimating. Procore experience is a plus. The PM Co-Op must work well under pressure, be flexible and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ability to coordinate several major activities at once, while analyzing and resolving specific problems, is essential, as is an understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings. Must have good oral and written communication skills and attention to detail. The PM Co-Op must be able to establish a good working relationship with many different people, including clients, other managers, designers, superintendents, and crew.
