Provide support and coordination with the Systems Completion team in start-up and commissioning of the facilities
Take part in the review of work packages for planned maintenance activities within allocated Area, confirms that isolation requirements are applied, and ensures that the preparation of equipment is planned in a manner that provides a safe environment in which personnel can work
Endorse Work Permits as the Area Operator (AO). Endorse Work Permits as the Isolating Authority (IA) when required.
Encourages team effort between Maintenance and Operations groups
Supports work prioritization to maximize effectiveness and to complement the efforts of other work groups
Ensuring the CRT is informed and consulted about operations and major issues
Ensures good communication between Areas so that issues can be adequately addressed and actions completed
Maintain a daily log and shift changeover notes
Safely perform physical tasks at times, e.g. moving drums of chemicals, lifting, climbing ladders/silos/tanks
May perform minor maintenance to equipment
Maintain a high standard of plant housekeeping
Make process changes to ensure quality control of end products that are within accepted standards

The Training Center provides year-round training for soldiers from across the nation. In this position, you will work rotating shifts consisting of holidays and weekends and work in confined areas and at elevated heights. This is a summary of the job responsibilities; this is not an all-inclusive list.
The Heating Plant Operator, must have the ability to safely operate fire-tubed boilers, feed pumps, circulating pumps, water softeners and coal conveyers. Ability to adjust equipment to maintain the flow of steam; maintain a heating plant log of gauge readings, fuel consumption, steam flow rate and maintenance performed; check and record condensate return flow rates from various steam-heated buildings; check and adjust steam valves feeding heating systems; test and adjust chemical treatment equipment; building checks and area security during heating system inspections.
To be considered, this position requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of work experience in power plant operation that includes the firing of high pressure boilers or one year certificate in power plant technology and one year of work experience in a power plant operation that included firing of high pressure boilers. Required to obtain and a 2nd Class Grade B Minnesota Boiler license. Successful completion of the interview process, reference checks and background investigation are required.
