Job Summary
Summary:
Under the general direction of the leader on duty, and according to established policies and procedures operates the computerized building automation and alarm system operations center and interprets and responds to information provided by the system. Takes corrective action as needed and responds to emergency situations and has the ability to work independently.

Essential Functions:
-Operates computerized Building Operations Center, which includes the Honeywell Siemens Controls and ENE Building Systems computers, Translogic system and Thyssen Elevator computer system.
-Interprets and responds to information provided by the system(s) determining normal and corrective action.
-Receives phone calls from all areas of the hospital and takes appropriate action.
-Dispatch calls to personnel as warranted.
-Assigns other Engineering Department personnel as required for corrective actions.
-Maintains and issues computerized corrective work orders.
-Maintains handwritten and computerized log(s) of all transmissions, assignments and/or communications in accordance with department standards.
-Performs equipment inspections on the M-1 level to ensure they meet standards.
-Communicates with other employees and management on necessary information regarding building systems operation.
-Maintains a cooperative relationship with utility suppliers and outside vendors to the hospital (i.e.
-MASCO, MATEP, Boston Edison, Boston Fire Department, Honeywell, American Service, Thyssen Elevator, etc.) to respond to malfunctions of equipment.
-May contact vendors as necessary.
-Performs duties of a maintenance mechanic on a periodic basis to maintain a familiarity with changing systems and building layouts.
-Responds to emergency situations as appropriate.
-Attends and actively participates in department, team, and one on one meetings with supervisor.
-Provides updates in shift huddles with team members to ensure continuity of services across shifts.
-Maintains a safe and clean work environment in areas where work is performed and in Engineering department.
-Closes work order in Maximo to maintain an accurate record of services provided.
-Completes work in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
-Supports team members to problem solve and complete work orders to meet customer needs.
-Upholds BWH values and customer service standards in all interactions within and outside of the Engineering Department.

About the role

**Essential Responsibilities:**
+ Operate all boilers and boiler auxiliaries in the power plant, including all types of equipment to support the entire facility
+ Support the organization and determination of boiler load and load distribution
+ Report operating conditions to and operate under the direction of Power Plant Engineer
+ Operating includes communication between operators and maintaining proper operating conditions, boiler pressure, steam temperature, water levels and operating all types of auxiliary power plant equipment
+ Take required action in emergencies, report any unsafe conditions, keep area clean, etc.
+ Monitor alarm panel and take actions to alarms and or notify appropriate personnel
+ Make tests on water and determine characteristics such as sulfate, alkalinity, phosphate, solids and oxygen on water condition
+ Prepare records, record data and make necessary correction to control water condition
+ Perform related duties to maintain proper water treatment
+ Report unusual or unsafe conditions and take action when needed and or notify appropriate personnel, take required action in emergencies
+ Comply with all state regulations regarding boiler / turbine operation and all state records and logs must be completed
+ Complete and maintain company records and logs relative to all phases of the power plantoperation and maintenance requests
+ Must be knowledgeable of all power plant systems including steam and water lines, condensate lines, surge tank lines, compressed air lines and all other lines pertinent to the operation of the facility
+ Power PlantOperators must wear proper PPE for work being performed, keep assigned areas clean and provide communication to Power PlantOperators and Power Plant Engineers

**Qualifications/Requirements:**
+ High School Diploma or equivalent education (GED)
+ Commonwealth of Massachusetts 2nd Class Firemen's license.
**Eligibility Requirements:**

About the role
As an Auxiliary Operator, you will work in collaboration with our facility control room to operate and inspect various power plant systems safely and efficiently to ensure the operational effectiveness of Reworld's industrial disposal process. Position Responsibilities:
Operate and inspect power plant systems in accordance with safety operating procedures, systems include, but are not exclusively limited to boilers, air pollution control systems, ash systems, and heavy industrial equipment
Monitor and inspect various boiler plant auxiliary equipment, including pumps, motors, fans, dampers, air compressors, valves, mixers, conveyors, turbine generators and electrical devices
Read and interpret data from meters, gauges, and industrial measuring tools to identify trends and/or potential equipment disruptions that impact facility operations
Monitor air pollution control equipment
Perform various types of material sampling, chemistry testing, and treatment of water, as required
Safely operate heavy industrial mobile equipment, such as: cranes, skid steers, loaders, and forklifts
Responsible to maintain correct levels of refuse-fuel in operations equipment, and ensure appropriate refuse mix in designated pits and areas of operations
Additional duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient facility operations
Position Requirements & Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred
A minimum of 2-3 years' experience operating heavy industrial equipment
Must have the ability to work a rotating shift schedule
